I really don't get the problem with us signing players from 'lower leagues'.

Surely it doesn't matter where they come from, the issue is are they any good.

Case in point: Cal Roberts came from Blyth Spartans, a club with a long history and recent successes against EFL teams in the FA Cup. At the time Blyth were struggling to stay in the National League North. Notts had done their homework and the rest is history...

I would never suggest it applied to all clubs.

The increased cost of living resulting in less money in peoples/supporters pockets now as opposed to pre pandemic will have an overall detrimental impact on season ticket sales as well as match day ticket sales.

As for Villa, I'm not sure if it is still the case but for many a year when I was a Notts adult Season Ticket holder I could have got a Season Ticket at Villa for less to Premier League quality football every other week. Obviously I never would#COYP

As for Mansfailed surely it's no surprise after last season's incredible turnaround under Nige before they choked in the playoff final that their Season Ticket sales have significantly improved.

Yes it is a risk but so would signing a player from higher up too players may not settle etc.

Id rather we took this approach then sign the likes of Ben Burgervan and Enoch again.
Peterborough only have a couple, they don't have pretty much the entire transfer business doing it

I agree with previous posters, a cm with experience would be ideal.

I’m intrigued by your ‘entire transfer business doing it’. Do we not already have Slocombe, Cameron, Brindley, Rawlinson, Chicksen, Palmer, Ruben, Roberts. I think it’s pretty fair to argue there’s a fair amount of experience there at our level already. Plus we’ve brought in a player with L1 experience. So in your opinion, what’s missing?

I think signing the best talent from the league below is a great idea. They're young, hungry and I'm sure they'll be good additions to the squad. Don't forget we've been watching these players for awhile, it's not like they've just gone let's buy all the champions best players, they'll have the stats to back it up and from the interviews they look to have the right attitude. Obviously every signing is a risk ask Alex Ferguson but as for not renewing your ticket due to the signings then don't see this as being a good reason not to renew.

I don't think you need to be senior to be a leader. Olley if we sign him is /was captain and is 26, Cameron was captain at 24. The lads from Gateshead are in effect from our league, so not really signing from a lower league, but as was mentioned earlier, Cal came from a league lower, and it is rumoured we want £500,000 from Doncaster for him, so it can work out well.

As I've already said we have done it the other way for years and we are now here.

I prefer players on the up [rather] than players on the slide.

We do have a mix of both to be fair. I agree a CM is needed but one thing also stood out last year was a lack of pace [and] we seem to be addressing that.

Pace isn't everything if you can't control the ball but it gives you options to play to feet and over the top/down the channels.

Dominant centre back, dominant centre midfielder and a league 2/National League option up front because if Langstaff and Scott don't make the grade, we have Mitchell as the only option up top to lead the line

If we bring in a dominate centre back, we would surely have to let a centre back or player who can play there leave? I don't know whether LW will go with 2 or 3 CBs in his preferred system to start the season but currently we have 5 who are conformable playing that position. We don't need 6.

Would ideally like another (different) forward option come in like CBP suggests.

Apart from a goalkeeper, I think we’re pretty well covered at the back.

Midfield, yes, as previous post would like a suitable CM. I think this will come.

Forward, possibly. I do think folk are writing Mitchell off too quickly.
