Tuesday July 5th, Zahawi is installed as Chancellor of the Exchequer to replace Sunak, following the latter's resignation.

Thursday July 7th, Zahawi tells BoJo it's time to go. How long before he gets sacked like Gove was. He went to hand Boris the bottle of whisky and pearl handled pistol. Seems Boris drank the whisky and then turned the gun on Gove.

Not only is Boris' time as PM up, his entire political career has gone down the pan.

Anyway...going today...and to further misquote a football chant...’80 and you *ucked it up’. Doesn’t quite scan but you get the gist.

Not to mention Michelle Donelan, MA...she broke all records. Education Secretary for a whole...36 hours!

Doubt it, GP. We’ll need some sort of Government during the summer and you just can’t have someone who’s ‘left’ in such circumstances being left in any sort of control.

It’s not been thought through...again! This isn’t May Mk2. She wasn’t totally discredited and seen as having neither integrity nor credibility so she remained until after the outcome of the leadership contest.

Someone, possibly Graham Brady...possibly an existing Cabinet member who isn’t standing for PM...needs to act as interim PM, because Johnson would, in such circumstances, move from liability to out and out dangerous mad man.

Cant disagree, I suspect a different caretaker will ensue but BJ staying on is the current unthoughtthrough solution

I'd say someone like Suella Braverman could act up in the interim. Not right for full time role, but as a barrister could do a job of holding the fort and reunifying a fractured party/government

Never heard of her...had to look her up. Bit ‘far right’ I’d have thought. I’d prefer Ben Stokes.

Seriously...I’ve been in situations where discredited leaders have had to be got rid of and the idea that they remained as ‘caretaker’ would have been quite untenable.

As deputy Raab is the obvious temporary choice unless he’s (laughably imo) standing again. Otherwise a ‘safe pair of hands’ as interim and a much speeded up leadership contest. Can it really take the best part of 3 months?

P.S. Sorry...didn’t expect such an immediate reply. Not personal reservations...suspect they just need someone more centrist if the Deputy PM declares himself unavailable.

Attorney General and previously responsible for a lot of Brexit issues - so I imagine that could underpin your negativity! Not suggesting her as permanent appointment, just to hold fort and bring people together, and that probably needs a Brexiteer rather than a Remoaner

Apparently resigning as Party Leader. Will remain PM until a new leader is elected then he'll resign as PM. Expected to be some time in the autumn....
