I really don't see why that should be so hard to fathom.

I remember Ronnie Moore getting a whif of the Norwich job whilst in his pomp here with us and he was halfway down the A1 before he realised he'd been pranked. However, that same guy stood by himself, completely by himself in the top of the stand after the Gillingham win to watch all players and fans milk the celebration for all it was worth. Just enjoying a great success for a club that he deeply loves, but as with Warne, chose to leave when offered a hallucinatory opportunity. It's just real life, and real humans with mixed feelings making complicated decisions.

His reasons: It's really, really simple and he doesn't need to spell it out. At the Millers, a manager has to work within a budget that makes us safe in the long term. This obviously restricts how far we can go and Warne has done wonders to get us here, so huge thanks to him for that. But obviously Derby can offer much better pay, better facilities and if he is successful a chance in a high profile club where he will have a better chance of getting the recognition that he will feel he deserves a shot at after 6 years with us. It is a risk, but not financially and he knows that. Good luck to him, and now we move on. Thanks for the memories Warney.
No Wonder Ronnie didn't get the job at Ipswich if he went to Norwich! Lol

He was always overrated on MM and he'll never achieve anything in management. Good riddance.
Bet you`re loving this, you are a sad excuse for a human being, you,Gru and Grist should move in together.
Anyway that`s more than enough words on you, more importantly, thanks Paul Warne,a true Millers legend,3 promotions and a cup win is some record, that may never be beaten, good luck at Derby, you`ll need it.
    Cheers Warney,UTM.

    Absolutely spot on, raging.

It's a sad day for (most) Miller's supporters, but I for one am very grateful to Paul Warne for his conduct and efforts at the club and for his good grace to write in those terms.

Loyalty good human being yeah right no better than Smith imo.
True ....he as jumped ship and left us to drop like a stone , no manager no coaching staff well done Warney..He knows he's dropped us in the mire ,but I don't believe he give's a crap....just watch our form go from good to terrible, we will be bottom come the end of the season with probably very few wins more than we now have...the new manager will have no idea how to get this set of players playing the way we have started and by the time he has we will be down again....so thanks very much Warne but keep your message and put it where the sun don't shine mate ,you obviously care about this club about as much as Smith and co ....Money is all that matters and sod our club, at least be honest about it !!

Could any of you seriously expect him to turn down the job at Derby to stay at Rotherham? Really? Come on guys, football isn’t like that, you take your opportunities when they come and this is a massive one for him. Everybody expected the Millers to be among the relegation fighters and if you’d have been struggling again, many of you would have been shouting for him to be replaced. It could be a great or terrible time for him at Derby, time will tell but even if he fails he’ll walk into another job in L1 or L2 because he’s proved he can get teams out. Now Rotherham have the opportunity to bring in a coach more seasoned with the Championship to keep you there so it may turn out to be a blessing in disguise. You still have a decent squad and have made a good start so I don’t think you’ll be short of quality replacements. Good luck with it anyway, it’s not easy losing a manager who’s done well but we’ve all been there and sometimes it turns out surprisingly well. Stay positive.

Can't imagine many, if any, departing managers taking the time to write such a heartfelt piece - class act. He's given us some fabulous times whilst he's been honing his skills which are now widely appreciated in the football arena. He deserves his chance to pitch those skills at a club where he will have the finance to potentially put together a great side. Best of luck to him and when we play Derby in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, I'll welcome him back - until kick off!!

    Most sensible post yet this..^ ^ ^
It's a no brainer to me ..didn't want him to go but he could have been on the dole if things don't go right at the end of the season and Tony Stewart fancied a change..as it is, he's struck gold wether or not he's successful..

Well I hope all you guys who think Warne's done us a favour think the same when we get a nobody failure as our next manager and he takes us back down , because believe me this is a disaster for this promising season...that will be as good as it gets now ,down hill from here on in dark days ahead , he even took all our coaching staff next will be our players, he won't give a crap what it does to our club when he comes back for our players will he ,and he will without any doubt , so no I won't wish him luck , I hope it ends in a complete disaster within weeks or months and he's sacked, but don't ever come back to us Warney...go sit with Smith in his Pig pen and all his dosh I'm sure you'll both be very happy
