Was that his first game ? Cant expect him to go full on Carlton Palmer mode !

He failed but so do 99% of managers very few have success.

Exactly legs77 and that is why it is so so easy to publicly state early on here that manager {insert new man at the helm} will fail, and don't believe we will get promoted this season , but I would love to be proved wrong (have to swallow a little sick every time I type that, yuk!). Then follow it up with a classic 'I told you so' post after the latest manager departure and non-promotion season.

The odds, the statistics, history are all hugely in your favour. It is the football fan equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel #noprizes

It wasn't the fact that it was his first game, it was the way he conducted himself during the post-match interview. He shrugged it off as though the game didn't matter. Well, it certainly mattered to me, and i would suspect most of the decent sized crowd who were looking forward to a day out at Wembley.

The hatred for him on here is nonsensical. There is no way any sane person would have turned down a promotion two leagues up for presumably higher pay.

Personally I wish him and FGR all the best.
I'm still failing to see someone post they hate IB on here. The hatred on here is quite a statement. Maybe some bad feeling left on how he went about securing his next position but that's all. I think it's like BFP says, one of those things where people just want to reply dramatically without reading what people actually put. Do I care how IB does or FGR? No. Do I think he should have not planned his next job whilst still in a very important period at Notts? Yes. No hatred here.

Do you think calling someone a "slimeball" is not hatred?

Perhaps to you it may be, but to normal people definitely not.

Hate means to have an intense dislike. Every definition of slimeball I've read suggests someone towards whom there is an intense dislike. I think I'm very normal, and choose my words judiciously. I really don't think calling someone a slimeball is normal. I'm not going to say any more on the topic.

I would say slime ball is someone who's untrustworthy and really cheesy when you talk to them. You might hate them, you might pity them or you might just avoid them. Is having a meeting with another company and accepting a job with them in the middle of a period of importance for your current company untrustworthy? Maybe some would see it that way, maybe some would see it as looking after number one or maybe some would see there being no problem with it. I think it's a bit dodgy myself so if it goes tits up for IB then don't have any sympathy for him. I shall also say no more on the subject.

I'm pretty sure almost everyone who has applied and had an interview for another job has done so at some point whilst working in their existing job regardless of the importance of what you are doing and without making it public knowledge, surely?

I used the word "hatred" on here in response to the original slimeball comment but also referring to all the other posts / threads we've had about IB since he left, a lot of people hoping he fails, hoping he's sacked, stating he s**t on us etc etc. I sum that up to folks showing hatred towards an ex-manager. If they didn't then I am wrong - but it certainly all reads like that to me. For my part I really enjoyed the football we played under IB, a huge improvement on a lot that went before. Very disappointed we didn't finish higher under him to give ourselves a better chance of promotion. I was sorry to see him leave as I thought he was worth another year but am now very pleased he did as Luke Williams is a step up, playing very attractive football still but with the added press-intensity to get the ball back higher up the pitch and with a real finisher for all the chances we create. As for the Hornchurch game - like Durham I was gutted that we missed out on a Wembley trip but as it was IB's first game I put that down more to the players being unable to beat an overweight pub team rather than any blame on the manager (how the hell did we concede 3 to them??) In the post-match interview what is he supposed to say after his first match? Certainly wouldn't expect an apology or to slag off his players as that really would not be a good start to his relationship with them.
