Thread: Sheffield United Post Match Thoughts

  1. #31
    Gru....you are a tit,anyway onto the match.
For a 0-0 it was very entertaining, the Blades have obviously got 5 or 6 very good players, but so have we,nobody had a bad game, but special mention to Leo,Hall,Fosu,Hugill, and Ollie(as usual !).
The young Leeds lad is getting better each game, reads the game really well, strong in the tackle, and great in the air,his previous games were slightly marred by a couple of positional errors, today there were none, great signing.
Great to see Hall back,I`ve thought all season he is our best centre half, and I still think that,Cam also did well.
Fosu looks a real handfull, quick, tricky, and worked hard,Hugill, very impressed, reminds me of slightly shorter Smith, obviously tired a bit,but will be top signing I`m sure.
Ollie was just Ollie,he`s like Frecklington on speed !
Conor Coventry settled into the game, neat and tidy player with a good engine, however he has big boots to fill, but a good start.
Hakeem was again immense in the middle, breaks up the play, good header of the ball, and again someone who never stops running.
Only slight dissapointment was Chio, didn`t really create enough for me,and at times looked to be strolling through the game....maybe that`s a bit unfair because it`s easy to compare him to his team-mates who don`t slack for a second, will be interesting to see what happens when Quina is available.
So overall, a great point against another top team,if we keep performing like we have the last 3 games and not the previous 3,then we will be safe.
    Well done....UTM.

Really good point considering I honestly thought with us in transition and them flying that we'd get beat.
I didnt agree with MOM even though I thought Hugill had a decent game, but for me Rathbone epitomises everything we are about and his decision making isn't bad either. I could see the quality in their side but we didn't give them enough time on the ball to make it count and we fully deserved our point today.
All in all we looked, IMO, very much a championship side, and I am feeling much more confident of keeping our championship status, and now we have played them twice i sincerely hope the blades go up UTM

The bit you put about Chieo was spot on, I said to my son at half time that I thought he looked like he lacked energy, as though he had some kind of virus, but to be fair to him he still kept on going. UTM

Make no mistake, a point against a good Sheffield United side. In previous seasons we may well have lost that game. This side of ours is starting to look very promising - we'll need every point we can get from this moment on and it's looking far better than a few weeks back now - well done all

I thought we did OK in a very scrappy games, happy with a point in the end.

I thought all the debutants did well. As others have said, Coventry and Hugill will get better with game time. I like Fosu, clearly a classy player who can make things happen. Lovely ball from him to Haks for the header in the first half, shame it wasn't Hugill on the end of it.

Rathbone excellent again, ratted around the pitch all afternoon. Ogbene so frustrating. He was either fouled or lost the ball everytime he had it.

Huge game on Saturday v Blackpool.

Don't understimate that performance, it was a great point against a very good Championship side. They looked like they were capable of doing some damage but we never let them and restricted them to just the one clear cut chance. Our work ethic is fantastic and the defence just goes from strength to strength, Hall and Humphreys were immense. You could stick a pin in the team sheet for MoM but I'll plump for Hjelde. The lad never put a foot wrong, was rarely out of position and moved the ball forward very well.

On today's showing, the massive boost of optimism we all got from the January window looks to be well founded. You could sense the relief of that as we came out of the ground and it actually felt more like a win. We are finally starting to look at home in the Championship. Some good times ahead methinks.

When all our 6 loans are available Bailey Wright should be the one to not make the match day 18. Get Hull on the bench then. Been said Fosu he's like Miller hope not didn't rate him! Enjoyed game we competed against a good side. One grumble about Westgate car park now it's free at the weekend nobody controls it now parking now to block you in!

Brin I just see it how I see it. Bailey Wright doesn't look tall enough for a centre back. Next 10 games good chance of getting points to get us on the road to safely. I support this manager I've said back 4 good today. Couldn't say anyone had a bad game. Chioe did ok he gets some tackles flying in at him, he kept going.

So much I could say but I'll keep it succinct. We are not one of the worst 3 sides in the Championship this season.

Great results against top teams, go produce it again against Blackpool and alike. Those games we will win.
