This government don't. They would rather use this issue as a distraction from their complete ineptitude at running this country.
It plays well to the frothing gammon and their thick racist base.

    Don't be distracted.
You clearly do not understand the enormity of the issue - that would not stop the boats or the gangs. The only real long-term solution to the problem is for the UK and the rest of the G7 to start sorting out the issues in the countries where the refugees are coming from so that they don’t need to leave. We could start by getting rid of Assad in Syria! - The russians too tied up now to do anything to stop us.

The USA, the UK and the G7 have been bombing these people back into the stone age for the last 25 years…. mass migration wasn’t an issue before that.

I suggest the “problem” is nearer to home

There is already a processing office in France actually. This is the most frustrating part.

In not at all saying this policy will work or is great, but something needs to be done. All these Champaign socialists saying stopping the boats is wrong are actually saying they're pro slavery. They probably don't realise this but they actually are. If these people are truly refugees, how are they affording the £3-10k crossing "fees"? They have to "work" it off and there you have it, slaves with no healthcare or support. Stopping the boats needs to be a first priority

This is a ridiculous policy which I suspect the government knows won’t work but are going through the motions to appease the ‘something must be done’ brigade, I’m sure you know the sort. These people seem to ignore the fact that the small boats’ (aka human beings) problem is entirely one of the government’s own making.

I’ll try again. What ‘official routes’ ( your phrase) are open to Iranian or Erittean refugees to come to the UK? Calling people you’ve never met champagne socialists isn’t really an answer.

It's not even a policy, it's just a slogan, borrowed from Trump's 'Build the wall' playbook. That was an impossible task and so is this. It's only in place to appeal to the right people ahead of the upcoming local elections.

How many migrants is Lineker prepared to accommodate with him?
Guardian headline 2021: "Gary Lineker’s political tweets could help him avoid £4.9m tax bill."

So what is the caring socialists plan. Just let them all in, so we all suffer in this country eventually . There has to be a number which trips the house full signs, even for the genuine asylum seekers.
Sooner or later this country will lose it's identity, if it already hasn't.
There seems to be a disproportionate amount of very choosey young males, from apparently war torn counties entering this country by dinghy's.
