    If France etc. doesn't want them, why were the left so keen to remain in bed with those countries? Wouldn't that make the EU just as right wing and Nazi as us?
    You’d have to ask them, but it could be one of many reasons. Culture, language, family or friends already here, seen the UK on tv, who knows. I can’t imagine someone fleeing Iran gives a flying one whether we’re members of the EU or not. Your question is moot anyway as France and Germany in particular take far more than their share of refugees than we do.

    Of course being members of the EU meant we could have used the Dublin Agreement to send people back to France but obviously now we can’t.

    Other countries taking "more than their fair share" implies immigrants are a problem. Why couldn't they take them all? What would be the issue?
