However, if we go and win at Livingston and other results go in our favour then our hope will be raised again. I know some on here like to say that they only care about United's results, but I'm sorry, you simply can't ignore the importance of the other games in our situation.

It's going to take an almighty effort to get us out of this and a fair chunk of the aforementioned luck. It will also depend on whether or not the players have chucked it (again). I haven't watched any highlights of the last two games so I've no idea if the two defeats are simply down to being rubbish or if our squad have had a relapse to just not caring. If they have chucked it then we have no chance, simple as that.
Saturdays result was, IMHO, down to us being less up for the game than RC. No bad luck, they were just better. I don't think I'm being overly dramatic either. ☹️

Kinda in response to RAM1971 on the RC matchday thread as well, but how can anyone have any hope left when the following scenario is what we are chasing. While 2 or 3 points may be enough for a playoff spot and 6 points making us safe, nothing less than 9 points will give us the best chance of survival to take us into 9th or 10th. I know ive said this already, but to spell it out a bit more.....

St Johnstone could be key to our survival with Killie(A), RC(A) and Liv(H). Its a tough run, and they need a least 4 points to give themselves a chance, and i just dont see any more than 3 points for them.

Killie with St J(H), us(A) and RC(H), must be favourites to survive with head to heads against the other bottom 3 and 2 games at their fortress, but as long as we look after our goal difference, we pip them. 6 points i think.

RC with Well(A), St J(H), Killie(A) might look like they have a hard run ahead, but they are the perennial strong finishers, but i cant see them getting more than 6 points.

RAM may come along with his pendency stick and say that i am spelling out my hope with what is above, but i truly do not see us getting the 9 points we need, or 6 with other results our way. My hope now lies in someone coming along in the closed season to steer us back out the championship and into the team we should be.

Nothing over dramatic there, and im not sure the whole team were to blame for not being up to it, just the defensive unit that has been our downfall all season.

I just meant they battled better all over the park. The less said about our 'defence' the better. ☹️

I really thought the 6-1 defeat at Tynecastle, combined with Kilmarnock and ourselves winning the same weekend, would have been the end of Ross County. In a strange way, it looks like being the best thing that could have happened to them.

Most teams get a reaction to at thumping, even we managed it after the 0-9. In the context of points and goal swing it was a blow to them, but think key was the first games after the split, if we had managed even a draw, which is why I think that game was as much a not lose as much as a must win, it would be a four way fight now for bottom spot with St Johnstone, even the defeat on Saturday wouldn't have been as disastrous, as it was, that St John result coupled with their win against Livi gave them a massive boost knowing they could usurp us in the league. The fact St John (2x), Killie and County have now all beat us at Tannadice says much.

Whilst it's still possible, there is still hope. Beat Livi, and County fail to win away to Motherwell, and everything changes again.

The team was up for it up until we equalised, and then the energy just seemed to evaporate. That second half just lacked everything. I still saw players trying at the end, but lets face it, Goodwin can organise us better, get a bit more fight, and self belief, but that can only plaster over the inefficiencies so far. The reason we lost on Saturday was because we have no defensive mids/aggressive players in the middle of the park to win tackles, a dreadful keeper, poor defending, no squad depth, and lack of creating goalscoring opportunities.

The only thing I'm really clinging to, is the fact the fact we are still somehow not down yet. Maybe I've been softened a bit to it now also, by the fact I'd resigned myself to us being down going down firstly when the deal to bring in the USA keeper fell through, and then after the Saturday results going into the Hibs game. Doesn't make me any less frustrated or angry. I've had to say though, second half Saturday was the first time I thought, I wouldn't even be confident of winning in a play off now. Previous to that, I've thought whoever finished second bottom would stay up via a play off.
