    First half, Mahovo very good
    Bajrami not very good
Crawley and Nemane a decent understanding, DC playing RR balls through.
    Macca being Macca.
Second half, TAR started brightly, got caught out a couple of times, pace still there though.
Scott looked to have sharpened up, slimmer, good goal.
    Glimpses from Ditzy,
Stone never tested but looked very comfortable with ball at his feet.
The pitch looked very spongey, and difficult to play quick passes.
Box entries not come through yet 😉

    Match report from the OS...

Macaulay Langstaff, Jim O'Brien and Cedwyn Scott fired us to victory in our first friendly of the summer.

Luke Williams named separate starting XIs for each half, with first-teamers Sam Slocombe, Aden Baldwin, Sam Austin, Will Randall and Junior Morias left out as a precaution following a typically tough start to pre-season.

Jodi Jones was present at the match but unused following his recent international exploits.

In front of a crowd of 773, we had the first chance of the game inside two minutes when youngster Brad McGregor, playing wide left, saw his cross volleyed goalwards by Aaron Nemane, who was playing on the opposite flank. A Borough defender positioned himself well to block.

In what would become a common theme of the first half, attacking midfielder Dan Crowley opened the door for Nemane on 10 minutes and watched on as his cross flashed through the box without a telling touch.

The Nemane-Crowley link-up paid dividends 15 minutes later, however, with the former being released to the byline once again and this time crossing low for Langstaff to turn the ball into an empty net.

It was proving to be a quiet half for our new goalkeeper, Aidan Stone, who saw his opposite number make a good save from our young midfielder Ryley Reynolds before brilliantly tipping Langstaff’s flicked effort over from the subsequent corner.

Castle was to be beaten once again before the half was out, though, as Langstaff and Crowley linked up to present the ball to the scampering O’Brien who produced a lovely finish from six yards.

Barring Stone, it was all-change at half-time and after a fairly uneventful opening to the second period the hosts had their best chance of the game as Matty Stenson capitalised on Tobi Adebayo-Rowling’s mistake and curled the ball wide of the far post.

We responded by extending our lead, David McGoldrick holding off his man on the edge of the area and threading the ball through to Matt Palmer, who in turn laid it off to Scott who produced a fine finish.

And that proved to be the final goalmouth action as we claimed victory in Warwickshire.

    First-half XI
Stone; Mahovo, Cameron, Brindley; O'Brien, Bajrami, Reynolds (Y), Crowley; McGregor, Nemane; Langstaff

    Second-half XI
Stone; Chicksen, Rawlinson, Adebayo-Rowling; Bostock, Palmer, McGoldrick, Gill; Munakandafa, Cisse; Scott

P.S. Is this site running like a clockwork potato for everyone else?

Crowley is more technically gifted than Ruben but to be seen if he can impact games as much as Ruben did.

Fair assessment. Bajrami was really poor, misplaced almost every pass. Crowley looks a little lightweight, doesn't have Ruben's upper body strength but more nimble. Mahovo looks the part, very athletic. I've even advocating signing more defenders, perhaps Mahovo is the reason we've not addressed this yet. Not the finished article but impressive last night
