So my question is this - which 1st team player from last season has improved this season under Collins ???
Or to put it another way - which 1st team player has not got worse this season ???

Who's ever said on this forum that all the players signed in the summer are cr@p?

For the record, and it's in my previous post on this very thread for all to see, I said "SOME of the defensive players that we've signed aren't up to scratch"

On a positive note I think there's a defender in the making in De Gevigney. Lopata potentially has summat but they both need an experienced player by their side in order to improve and learn.

On the other thing you brought up about players this season compared to last season. How many 1st team players are actually left from last season Nudger? Let's go through it-

Out of a typical Duff starting XI-

    the goalkeeper has changed

the back 3 aren't here any more,

left wing back Cadden is doing ok this season, pretty consistent just like he was last season.

Our right wingback Jordan Williams has had to be moved into the back 3 so comparing him with last season is unfair.

Connell has just come back from injury so again, unfair to judge.

Herbie done ok just like last season

Phillips has lost form and confidence

    Norwood is gone

Davante Cole has almost equalled last seasons goal tally in under 20 games this season.

So, in summary, Cole has improved, Phillips got worse(he's probably still hurt by Wembley). Cadden, Kane still the same solid and reliable.

    So what is your point?

Nudger you are wrong once again, no one has said these players are crap those are your words , what I have said and others also is that we have lost championship quality players & replaced them with raw potential , you have argued that these replacement players are more than up to standard & already have the quality & then you put the blame on Collins even to the extent of calling for his head should we get promoted , Collins has been dealt a bum hand , the board have already lined him up as a scapegoat should we fail which we will & so have you , you have bought their BS & gladly sing from their hymn sheet , well I have news for you , you are in a minority , the reds fans are not fools & most of us can see that the buck stops in the board room , they are out of their depth & the only way currently they are taking us both on & off the field is down hill .

    Correct Shads.

The absence of real football knowledge and experience on the Board is a worry.

This has been highlighted particularly in recent months by the lack of any input and advice from a decent quality CEO to guide them and a lack within the structure of a Director of Football type figure.

At least they have acknowledged they are a little out of their depth by seeking guidance from a Director of Football but that kind of role depends on who fills it and whether they listen.

When several posters on here have persistantly said - that Collins has been dealt a bad hand with the cheap lower league players that have been signed - then for me means that the directors are poor and have got recruitment wrong (an opportunity to bash James and recruitment) and the poor displays are nothing to do with Collins.

To my mind it doesn’t say that some of the players signed - could, should or might be ok.

We can only speculate - but in my honest opinion if Ismael or Duff or Stendel was in charge of this present crop of players then I think we would be top 3 maybe top 2 by now and be on course for automatic promotion.

I have every faith in our recruitment process and also faith in these players.
I also have faith in the players in the team from last season - even though these players seem to have dropped down a couple of gears.

None of the three managers you mention have a magic wand , none of them could have waved their wand & made Connell suddenly fit or prevented Roberts from getting injured or more to the point wave a wand & make raw , inexperienced non league players adequate replacements for three quality defenders , they all might do it in time but unfortunately the spread sheet scatter gun approach to recruitment would leave any manager/ HC with a lot weaker squad than last season & let me remind you no matter how enjoyable last season was we still failed to go up, so any of the managers you have mentioned & also Collins would find promotion this season as mission impossible , its time for them to sell their play thing & move on thus giving any new owners hopefully with some modicum of football knowledge the opportunity of taking our club forward .

You keep digging this hole Nudge and falling deeper and deeper onto it.

To repeat what most have said--

--- Our business model is to buy free/ low fee players, hopefully develop them, then sell to sustain the club. Signing from non league means they could well have the potential to develop but it will take longer. To present Collins with such players as oven ready replacement for players like Andersen, Kitchin and Collins to go straight into the first team is unrealistic.

---no one has said the new players are "crap" in your words. Please quote an example if you can find one.

--- the Board and Genius James need to recognise an element of experience is needed to lead the players who are at the beginning of their development at this level. A Director of Football may have advised this.

Shads - to my knowledge there isn’t anyone that gets hold of a football club that knows much or anything about running a football club.

If these owners left the club - Barnsley would undoubtedly get other owners that didn’t know anything much about running a football club.
It’s all pie in the sky stuff to imagine someone local with £££zillions who knows how to run a football club is waiting in the wings ready to enter the stage.

IMO - what we have is a couple of foreign owners and a couple of owners that have their roots in Barnsley.
It’s neither owned solely by foreigners with no links to the town - or owned solely by locals with relatively no money.
If I intended to put together the ideal board of directors then it would look something like what we have now.

The directors have said this is ‘year one’ of their leadership.
We now hear of the appointment of a new CEO and DoF.
It’s a start in putting a strong board of directors together.

So if Mike Ashley for example decided he wanted another punt at owning a football club would it not be fair to say that he is an experienced football club owner ? I am not suggesting that we try to sell to him but it took me about 3 seconds to think of him, but the fact is that unless they put the club up for sale then they would be able to gauge if there is any interest or not , presumably Patrick went through some kind of thought process when he sold up & that knowledge will not be lost on James & Mrs Cryan , anyway these owners are supposed to be wealthy business people & therefore should no how to buy & sell a business .

Faith based on what exactly? Name a summer signing who has significantly added to the quality of this squad and has stood out in the opening 25 league and Cup games of our season? I can't. Therefore, the squad is weaker than last season

It's pure blind faith that thaz got based on very little information. The type of blind faith that makes you think that our summer signings are not only league 1 ready, but championship ready as well as tha teld us back in September!!
