I believe you are correct Eths. I read an article a week or so ago where Hassall was saying that he had qualifications that allowed him to do contract negotiations etc. He was saying that he'd already been involved in ones that had taken place over recent times and that he hoped his temporary position would become permanent.
If thats correct Arbie at least someone is doing the job but I would have thought that owners with virtually no football knowledge would benefit from an experienced DoF and not a newcomer to the role.
OK were not exactly an attractive proposition to someone other than a candidate looking for an opportunity to learn on the job but a complete novice in the role I question? Hassell has been around football for many years but not in this role. He might turn out to be a find but I have reservations about him and his experience for this job.
Time will tell, the owners might pull a rabbit out of a hat.
It was announced a few weeks ago that Hassell would be Interim Director of Football and Flatman (previously Revenue Officer) would be Interim CEO.
Nothing said on appointments since.
With pleasure.
Short summary.
Championship 5th place.
Longer summary.
Anyone with a modicum of business sense would look at that 5th place and think - give the HC a huge bonus to keep him here for next season - plus a bit of investment next season into the squad - and things could become very interesting the following season.
But what actually happened was - let’s upset the director that identified these players, that cost us relatively nowt to put a team together - and let’s not use our own money to keep the HC here or invest in the squad - instead we will wait to sell players and then use that money to reinvest.
And then they waited.
And no offers came in.
What I’m describing here is that the system has been shown to work.
We all witnessed that.
It took a few seasons starting around the time of the appointment of Morais - and at times it was a real rollercoaster ride but the club eventually got there.
It’s going to take a few seasons to get back to the top 6 in the Championship.
We can’t put a date on it - but the directors have shown that it can be done - and IMO they will do it again.
But this time there won’t be Conway stood there to kick the skittles over.
McCart to stay.
That’s big news - this player has hardly put a foot wrong this season.
Solid performer.
Why don't we quicken our progress to the top of the championship up a bit YN ?
1 , Don't sell any season or match tickets so that Oakwell is totally deserted .
2 , spend 90 minutes lobbing balls from the halfway line in to the opposition's box .
3 , kick the ball straight out of play from our kick off .
4 , Don't let any tv cameras or opposition scouts in to Oakwell what so ever so that we can't get rumbled this time .
Piece a pyss .
De Givegney - excellent
McCart - not put a foot wrong!!
My oh my, all the other posters on here obviously can’t assess a player like YN.
