    Spot on Jules.

Barnsley fans like to see a good performance win or lose.
The performances this season have affected the atmosphere at Oakwell.

    The question and debate is this;
Is this the fault of poor quality players - or is it the fault of poor tactics from the HC.

My opinion is that I look at the individual players in the Barnsley squad and think most clubs in this league would give their right arm for most of these players.
Duff and especially Ismael would get these players functioning better as a unit than what Collins is doing.

Are you sure about Ismael and these players Nudge ?

I can't see Cosgrove, Watters and Cole running their nuts off first half with non stop "high pressing" and chasing hopeful hoof balls for the exhausted threesome to be replaced by Dallas, Shaw and Jalo. Similarly I cant see the present defence successfully playing a high line on the half way line and having the pace to recover.

Neill and Jon are doing the best they can with the players they have been dealt

This season has always felt inferior to last season's campaign despite what the stats tell us .

There are a number of reasons why it feels that way , firstly the expectation of the fans is different to the beginning of last season , many fans simply didn't have any expectations at all after experiencing the horrors of the last championship campaign .

After losing a heartbreaking Play Off Final which on another day we could and probably should have won the expectation was that we'd kick on this season , money would be made available to strengthen the squad even though we all knew we'd possibly lose one or two players as well .

It was also expected that Duff would remain and see the job through .

The club also had a real stroke of luck when Coventry City paid what they did for Liam Kitching , we probably rinsed £3m more out of Coventry City than we'd generally be entitled to expect .

Yet we are told or should I say gaslighted that because of the payment structure that none of the revenue from the Kitching sale will be available to spend .

I've never heard so much nonsense in my life , instead the fans are expected to accept that despite holding a positive league position very little money will be made available other than a free agent or possibly a couple of loans .

There's nothing going on at Oakwell that gives you any sense of optimism , excitement , ambition or even a plain and simple plan .

There's nothing going on that makes me want to leave the comfort of my living room , spend money and back this club , nothing what so ever , I struggle to even watch the games on ifollow .

I've never known a time when the owners were so out of touch with its fan base at this club .

We sit in a play off position and yet we could be 16th or 17th in the league and I'd feel exactly the same about the club as I feel right now .

That goes deeper than any HC or even sub standard players , that points directly at the people who have created the conditions for myself to feel like I do .

Clearly you have noticed a change in how we play.
From the style of play you have described - to being totally reliant on a ball player in midfield.
We wernt reliant on Mowatt as much as we are on Kane.
And that in itself reveals something has drastically changed.

Collins saying we need more players.
    IMO - we don’t.
Collins wants more players because he knows they are likely to dig him out of a hole.

Now that Pines has signed to provide added height at the back due to the absence of Cundy we have sufficient players at the club
For example - there are far better options in midfield now - than there was under Ismael with only Palmer and Mowatt for most of the season - and that was in the Championship.

IMO we are where we are in this league because we have a quality squad and Collins is getting a shift out of most of the players.
But the playing tactics and performances are dreadful.
If the frantic efforts of the players dip - there is a big risk of losing.
We should be strolling against teams like Exeter.

Name the quality players , tell us which players would walk in to the teams who reside above us ?

Go on then - I’ll bite.

    Roberts
    Mael
    Williams
    McCart
    Benson
    Styles
    Connell
Russell - many don’t like him but I do.
Kane - dosent fit our style - but would get in most (all?) teams.
    Cadden
    Cole
    McAtee
Cosgrove - yes I know he’s not doing out for us but he did for the league champions last season.

We had 6 not 7 on the bench yesterday.
Does that suggest a quality squad?

Not sure what point you are trying to make Jules, I have no beef at all with people not going to matches that is their choice , absolutely no problem at all , my response was to Nudge who since had a flounce and said he was not going to Oakwell again ( before Collins came ) he keeps banging the drum about how fans are turning away & crowds are falling , well they are not but if you are trying to play " I"m the better fan " well you are not on your own , I also bought season tickets during Covid & yes it hasn"t been great at Oakwell this season although I did enjoy the Pert Vale match & if you cannot enjoy watching your team score 7 then you are a hard person to please .

He wants more players to dig him out of a hole ? Do you mean the hole the owners dug for him with the summer transfer fiasco ? do you mean the hole they dug him when they sold his captain on the last day of the summer transfer window ? do you mean the hole they dug for him when they left him with a far weaker squad than the previous season ? None of these holes have been dug by Collins , for goodness sake give the bloke a break and get off his back .

Well said Shads. I think he's doing a topping job. The style of play is under scrutiny from certain sections but I'll never criticise players trying to pass the ball. Collins is trying to look at the bigger picture. With better quality opposition you need to keep the ball and use something other than hoofball to score goals. Afterall, we are one of the top scorers in league one. Then again, nearly averaging two goals per game and at times putting some excellent quick passing moves together, there's obviously much for Barnsley supporters to be bitching about and gates to be dropping
