If you think people want to come here to sit in hotels you're deluding yourself. People come here because they want a better life. Most of them want to work.

We obviously need an immigration system. My point is that we need young adults to come here and work because of the demographic of the country. Carry on as we are and in 15 years we won't have anyone to take the bins out.

I would genuinely re-join the EU, and look to entice Europeans here - a lot of whom are early 20s and hard working. They contributed economically. And I would try to reduce the numbers of non-EU immigrants, according to the numbers they do not contribute as much economically. This is all easier said than done, but re-joining the EU would be the first thing I'd do.

Yes to rejoining the EU but this should be voted on if not in retirement age as it impacts on the younger generation. Many Brits would love to work legally again in Europe but very difficult now! Working in Spain legally in my 20’s was the best life experience ever!

So if these people don’t want to sit in hotels then surely after being processed - all food - accommodation costs and rescue costs should be deducted from any funds paid. There’s no such thing as a free lunch!

I agree about the boats but it’s still circa 1000 people a day arriving in the summer months which equates to 100,000+ in a decent three month summer…….we do NOT have the housing for these people.

We can’t house the people we’ve already got so why are we allowing more in, it’s madness?

I keep asking a fair question and you keep avoiding it?

Nett migration is around 700,000 a year…..are you saying that for the rest of your life you’re happy to see 700,000 new arrivals each year plus all of the children they will create?

Move up to Harrogate Mick! No illegals will be coming there in a million years. Only boats you see are on the model boating pond in Valley Gardens!

On Harrogate Facebook sites there’s plenty of moaning about stuff like this and the number of homeless around the town.

People who’ve lived there a lifetime are noticing a drop in standards around the area.

I tell them they should try moving to Stourbridge.

But…..your locals are seeing a decline!

    It’s everywhere.

There’s very little decline. Beggars will always be attracted to affluent areas because they know people will give them money. To a degree same with drugs. It’s a fact of life affluent areas tend to keep property values and schools will be the best due to the people who live there. Mother in Law was head of a school in Bridlington as she was the first to say - rough area - rough school. Think about schools where many don’t speak English as the first language - poor kids!

Don’t know why police don’t have the powers to round up beggars/those sleeping rough in town centres as ruining retail trade.

How can we possible allow in around 750,000 people a year when we can’t build anywhere near the 350,000 new homes we need each year?

    Also, when does this stop?

At this rate, in 20 years we’ll have another 15 million people living here, in 100 years it’ll be 75 million additional people and the population will be more than double what it is now.

    It’s untenable.

I constantly ask people like yourself where do you set the limit?

    Seemingly you don’t?

    I don’t understand, I just don’t understand?
Hell be dead before it gets insufferable Mick. We all will. Obviously most people couldnt care less how bad things get let alone face the obvious questions youve asked.

    What’s the big secret?

It’s not as if anyone actually knows who you are?

    I’ve just voted as well!

    Exciting isn’t it!

Let’s keep it all a big secret! 🙄

Lib Dems - in our constituency it's them or the Tories, we've had the same tory MP in the 24yrs I've lived here and we see/hear very little from him. The LD's have campaigned hard here, I dislike Ed Davey but he'll never be the man in charge, it's time for change locally.

I'm hoping Labour don't get a thumping majority, they need to be kept on their toes - can't stand the voices of Starmer/Reeves or Rayner, however I am hoping we see grown up behaviour in parliament and serious debate from them, the country is on its knees.

I guarantee you this WCV…….every difficult question Labour are asked for the next five to ten years is going to be met with……”look at what we inherited, blah, blah, blah”.

Well you wanted it, you’ll have a huge majority, you have mandate to do whatever you want…..so f e c k I n shut up and fix sh it now that you’re there!

    But they won’t.
