Excellent news and despite continued rumours ref Fellows Birmingham Live quotes from an interview this morning with Carlos who stated :
"We are very happy to have him (Fellows) in the squad. Sometimes...in the past this club ...didn't have the possibility to say no to things that were not the right things...when you are in a more financial emergency situation"....." Right now the club does not have to make wrong decisions because we are not in this emergency financial situation. It allows you to make the right decision in terms of the player that you bring in or the player that departs"
Seems like Corberan wants to retain Tom and that the financial pressures on the club to sell are no longer as great. Crossed fingers!
No idea whether this is correct but I was told yesterday the hold up was due to getting medical insurance. He's still recovering from a broken eye socket. While he and we are happy for him to play wearing a mask we were having difficulty getting insurance for an injured player who wasn't already on our books. As stated, no idea whether that's correct.
I’m delighted.
I think this is the best money signing we’ve made in a very long time.
When you consider our financial circumstances and the constraints we’re working to this signing shows real intent.
It also shows that not only are we not a basket case of a club, this deal along with hopefully keeping Fellows shows that we are no longer going to have our pants pulled over our head whilst being rogered from behind.
For a decade we’ve bemoaned the recruitment department but now I feel we have grown ups in the room who have a bit of nous.
It would’ve been easy to have bought Mikey in a panic two months ago for £5 or £6m on the drip but we’ve played the long game and got value.
Not wishing to spoil the moment but in truth, he could be worth £10m a year from now if we haven’t gone up and want to cash in.
The great thing about these types of deals and others we’ve done this season is that they aren’t going to ever cripple the club on the one side and on the other side, there’s a strong possibility of a profit.
Being greedy, I’d have loved a loan deal for a Premier League striker just as the cherry on top of a hell of a lot of cream on a delicious cake.
This season has just got a little more exciting.
Never doubted Carlos’ vision.
Great signing.
