    Oh without a doubt.

I’m talking ownership-wise more than anything. That game changed the course of history and to be brutally honest l wouldn’t actually change a thing. We’ve been on and are still on a hell of a journey since with arguably the best owners we’ve ever had.

Three out of the Trews' five seasons in tier 3 went to a final day of the season battle to stay up, and he was talking about selling up by mid-way of the 3rd one, so a return to tier 4 under them definitely looked inevitable.

Probably would have delayed it though for at least another season if they'd stuck with Paul Hart instead of bringing in Moniz who was totally unsuitable for a last ditch relegation battle, especially given the fact he'd just lost his mother and was seemingly reluctant to take the job before the end of the season.

A delay in a drop to tier 4 may have been enough for the market to have changed enough in time to avoid the indignity the NL, or we'd have been in Stevenage's position where we got out of jail as a result of Bury's demise. Being in the NL is a stain on the club's history I'd rather not have, so I think I would still go back and change things if I could - at this stage - but obviously if we end up going into tier 2 then it will have been worth the pain. Not so if we end up on a similar curve to the Trews, going up to tier 3 only to come back down again.

    Unbelievable.

I firmly believe that day was the catalyst for our non-league days, who knows where we’d be had we stayed up that day.
Whilst chastening and painful, dropping down to NL probably helped us more than we could imagine. It allowed us to rebuild, get a few seasons challenging at the top end of a league which builds crowds and momentum as well. No one wants to end up down there but look at Luton, Lincoln and Leyton Orient. Two are established league one sides now and one had a season in the premier league

Oxford are the other major success story after dropping into tier 5. Wrexham, Bristol Rovers, Stags and Cambridge have all returned to tier 3 without yet making their next move one way or the other.

It hasn't worked out so well for Tranmere, Carlisle, Grimsby and Hartlepool - the latter pair returning to tier 5. It was a disaster for York and Torquay who ended sinking even deeper than tier 5 after coming back up to tier 4.

Stockport as well. They've risen three steps up the ladder in recent years, albeit by spending significantly more than most of the clubs around them.

We really ought to be finishing in the top 7 this season.
On the Gillingham game, it's our first real test of this season as I think they will be challenging for top 7 but I don't think they score enough goals to challenge for top 3. It's the kind of test we failed miserably so many times last season so I hope for better on Saturday, a draw won't be a disaster but we're at home so I hope for another win.
