I have a little bit of skin in this game, about 18 months ago some blood tests were indicating I might have a form of blood cancer, I was told I'd have to have a bone marrow biopsy and so I thought I'd better do a bit of investigating. After an hour or so on t'internet the hairs were standing up on the back of my neck, it didn't seem good at all, in fact it was bloody scary what was possibly coming my way. Then I came across a newspaper article about a man whose wife was dying with this very same blood cancer. It was a long drawn out affair, she was in pure agony 24/7 and the medical profession could do nothing for her. He couldn't bear to watch her suffering any longer and put a pillow over her face and suffocated her. I can't remember now whether he was imprisoned or given a suspended sentence, by this time I was virtually kacking my pants and almost shaking with fear.

In the event I got lucky, my next blood tests were fine, but I can clearly remember how terrified I was until the next tests said I was clear. I wouldn't wish what I read about on anyone, I'll vote for assisted dying every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I f you don't want to die, no problemo but why deny those who want to die that choice? They can still chose to kill themselves, with or without help but making it legal will make a hell of a difference to those who want to die painlessly.

One of those Cult Leaders in Texas used the same style of defence k_c. It did not work.
