Like many, I think it is madness to get sell either Palmer or Grant as surely the aim should be to retain our better players and shift the poorer ones? Like Bomber, I would understand Grant's frustration however at now being left out of a starting position by TM when the likes of Wallace get a start.
Although Grant has been a totally different player this season in terms of his attitude and work rate, I do acknowledge that he is neither a traditional number 9 who can step in for Maja nor a winger in the mould of Johnston or Fellows but he can be very effective playing off the shoulder. Surely an attack minded formation could accommodate both Grant and Johnston?
Hope that you have a great birthday Q- and that it is not tainted by any bad news on our transfer front!
There can only be one reason why Palmer is moving to Ipswich - money! In all probability he will be playing against us next season, and I do not mean that we will be promoted. Money is the only reason that makes sense to me. Griffiths is a promising keeper but at present he is not as good as Palmer. I just hope that we know what we are doing and how much has TM has been involved in theses decisions.
Tend to agree. I understand that, from the club's point of view and with 18 months left on his contract, the sale generates some money that avoids FFP rules but surely Palmer himself must have also requested a move? I might understand it more if the move was to an established Premier League club but Ipswich seems a gamble.
Bristol too cant be happy about this. Whilst Griffiths continues to improve and has potential, he is no Palmer though. Alex may still have areas of his game that could be improved (eg his distribution) but when it comes to those areas that really count-eg shot stopping-we will be very hard pressed to find a replacement keeper to match him. As you say, I wonder how much influence TM has had on these decisions.
We can?t forget that we?re using the money to buy, what is hopefully a young exciting attacking talent.
If, hypothetically the club thinks Griffiths has developed to be close to Palmers level of ability then the moves today will help us with PSR and potentially move us forward as a club.
News just breaking that we've given permission for Fellows to move to Everton. Would be a shame but I hope we command a decent fee for him.
Regardless of who we sell....it is rather frustrating that we always get quite low ball offers which we are only to willing to accept each time.
Palmer is a young goalkeeper with a very bright future a head and the club sells for €2 million?? That is shocking really. I wish him all the best but who ever agreed to selling to a premier club for that amount is fcuked in the head....
