Once, back in the mists of time, RUFC hired a progressive young coach and the football was the best I've seen in 60 largely painful years of watching the Millers. He was called Jack Mamsell
Thanks for that memory regarding Jack Mansell. Recall those days and like you say, we need a younger model to refresh Rotherham United.

I too remember the Jack Mansell days and the free flowing football we played but I'm not sure just appointing a younger manager would be the answer to the current problems.
After all Matt Taylor was only 39 when he was brought in to do a rebuilding job and that was a disaster.
As has been said on previous occasions the club needs restructuring from top to bottom and maybe then we will see some real progress.

So, a representative sample, on here, which projects across the likely whole supporter base.

2 stubbornly refusing to say bye bye evans, all the rest either wanting removal or comments which involve it being so.

Lets not forget this **** show season and all the crocks, freebies, under achievers, etc, came here under a model set out by evans.
No other manager I can think of, or that we have had could have come up with such a poor model for a squad.
The fact that other brains or not, went along with it, is neither here nor there.

A clean slate with a manager using a good model (as suggested by Douglas, and citing warne, because lets face it, it was his model) is all we need to do.
The board pick a manager and basically let him get on with it, it?s largely all they are capable of. It worked for 6 years with warne.

Evans ten years ago? Different age, easier for him, and his pick and mix high volume turnover dragged us over the lines.

It won?t work now, and there will be yet another squad he can?t do anything with, if allowed to.

    That is where we are.

    The herd needs to speak.

Exactly what has evans done right in nearly a year? (Await the silence)

Duff don't even know who Barnsley manager is Warney & Co they left us so no return all sooner stay with Evans. Artell he's the only one untried as a manager with us former player I'd consider.

Nothing will change now SE & PR are doing enough to get us over the line to stay in this league. We might get some empty words from TS to help improve ST sales and a lot of players in and out, because deep down SE blames the players and never himself.
We will lose a few good ones, be stuck with a few expensive failures and those worth keeping will all go into the last year of contract with promises of jam tomorrow and our wonderful board will ensure we lose out on whatever money we could earn on players in the future. We will recruit aging players again, (or ones that you get for a takeaway) keep the same coaching, operate a poor training facility and play the same style of football. We will be having these similar discussions next season, same issues with SE/PR and same issues with TS and same issues with TS (yes people) that run the club. Add to that the same weak reporting and questioning by local journalists.
Now for the good news, they are building a new hotel near the ground and the prices will be going up

we need 4 teams wrserer than us and we play 3 that are below us in the next few games! Who would have funk it? At the start of the season when we could have been expecting 20 teams worserer.

A stark reality check is that we were signing players early and needed extra weeks of training to get them into some sort of form. a good run was followed by a bad one then we won two by a single goal in the last minute. Then the losing starts again? Maybe!

With scant reference to the resident tw@ on here, I see his fat buffoon hero who NEVER gets it wrong, has been publicly slagging his players again today.
