SM has said a couple of times they?re a quiet bunch and I don?t think that?s healthy overall. It?s ok saying SM needs to motivate them but once their over that white line that?s long gone and you need voices on the pitch.
There were quite a few players looking meek and fearful, who shrunk before our eyes. Their responsibility but also the one who picks and prepares them.

We have to see a better showing on Saturday. My minimum hope for the second leg is that we give the cheating thugs a real scare. And that will take the full XI playing with confidence and some anger.

Tbf I couldn?t overly fault Sat, we had more chances and limited them to not a lot. I?d take that again this Sat if someone actually stuck some chances away.

I think it?s been more an issue just generally over the season but that said it did seem like we?d have absolutely been out of sorts on Sat if Didzy had not been on the pitch.

I think a lot of players got off lightly on the ratings thread. It was yet another home defeat and we got a big fat 0. I thought it was slow-paced, over-cautious as usual, and riddled with nerves and errors. We didn't get on top because too many players fell short. Same again but better luck isn't going to cut it IMO. We need everyone who's picked to throw off the shackles and play the game of their lives.

Goodman was unbelievable though and obviously a no-brainer for L2 Team of the Year.

For me Jones is still a shadow of the player from last season and wonder if some of the higher ratings he is getting is due to rose tinted glasses. He looks overweight, not fit and his impact in the game is massively limited to trying to cut inside every time and whip a cross in.
That isn't helped by playing on the right-hand side, but the touches he had in the game were so few, he was a passenger for a lot of it.

Something I haven't seen mentioned in this thread is the obvious lack of leadership and team spirit. There isn't that togetherness that there has been over the last few seasons, but what really stood out for me, was the red card incident. Jatta lost his head and was trying to start fights and no-one, especially the captain was anywhere to be seen to calm him down and get him off the pitch.

Palmer might be a good player, but a captain and corner taker he is not.

I might not like the dark arts that Wimbledon used to great effect against us, but would I care if it helped us get over the line and into league one? Absolutely not. We are too soft and easy to play against, we have no grit or bite. We massively miss someone of the ilk of Jim O'Brien.

Exactly what I've been saying for a while.

But we seem happy to be honourable losers rather than ugly winners.

That sums us up in our general play as well, we would rather play 'pretty' football all the time, regardless of the score, opposition, pitch quality and weather conditions.

At home against Salford showed we had no plan B in terms of formation, or tactics.

Heard an interview on R5 at the weekend with the manager of Spennymoor Town, one Graeme Lee. We should kidnap, register, put him on a monkey gland drip, and pick him as captain for Saturday

That?s not true though as we do actually go long quite a bit but it was pointless against them as the Salford CB had got one over Jatta the first 10 mins and had him in his pocket for the rest of the game. It?s hard having a plan B when nearly all your players are only suited to Plan A.

Also in the Salford game we switched from a back 3 at HT and went to a back 4 it made no difference.

Everyone thinks they are tactical geniuses in the stands/armchairs but I say this if you aren?t good enough or you?re not playing well tactics go out the window as Mike Tyson once said ?Everyone has a plan until I punch them?

I agree with you we don?t have the players to really mix it up it?s why quite a few are saying we need a few more physical players in the squad to mix it up more.

We are a very average side who tends to play reasonably well against the poorer teams. Saying that, we are also blindsided with stats that suggest we are better than we actually are.. We didnt deserve to win against Wimbledon, we got what we deserved.. Its totally pointless playing the way we do, We would be better suited competing in none contact sport.. Our team is riddled with a bunch of softies that just cannot compete against those streetwise sides..
