Ask me again this time next year. If he's great at it, most of us will be very happy

That was what I was trying to say when I said the jury's out about his ability to do that? Jobs for the boys same as last off here when he was a player doesn't always work. Different mentality being a coach than being a player you must need a patient approach.

I have worked in management all my life and whilst qualifications are importance eg coaching badges. The real ability is to be able to communicate and connect with people. You are either a natural leader and communicator or not. I think Woody is a natural leader and communicator. The last Manager was neither of these and his experience or coaching badges didn?t help much.
A novel idea would be to embrace what he has to offer and judge him on results.

Yes that is a novel idea . Unfortunately lots of people want instant success and don't want to have him learning on the job here.

As opposed to Mr NWC who 'did it on the bankrupt'? Haven't you finished barking at that crib yet?
Explanation: Dog in a manger - as I know your wit is not up to mine.

Ok?..I thought you?d scuttled off after you embarrassed yourself last time. Or, may I hazard a guess that the bottle top was off again last night?

His coaching badges were apparently awarded for crapping himself on the way to away matches.

Don't factory management usually get promoted from within.
It's not always about a colleague being the best at managing it's usually if his fellow workers respect him and are happy to work with/along side that person in charge.
If yourself. 15 years in engineering and Joe blog's had 40 years experience. Would Joe blog's make better management than yourself?
