Can someone tell me why Goodwin has said SCH hasn't been getting game time because he has a couple of more experienced guys in front of him. That is fine when these experienced players are playing well. When they are not I would say SCH should have been in a lot earlier than he was. When we were in the Championship we had Watson playing centre-half. He wasn't thought to be a starter. However he got his chance and we kept clean sheets and although conceded goals in other games we kept picking up points. I'm not buying this from Goodwin. Neither is playing KK when unwell.

Goodwin was to build a squad with strength and depth. He should be having a squad where competition for places is rife. What I'm seeing with the goalie situation and defenders, experienced at that, getting chance after chance with SCH not getting a sniff, is shocking.

If Eskesen doesn't get a start alongside Sibbald and Sevelj starts in midfield you can add midfield to the strength and depth scenario as well. Sevelj has been poor in midfield compared to last season yet was starting all the time.

Totally agree, especially the impossible one.

Yes Richards is a step up and maybe game time will build his confidence to catch, but it has to happen fast.

The entire team builds confidence from the back forward.

Rather than trusting to luck in a tricky window why don't we just bite the bullet, learn a lesson from the past and sign a keeper.I know many fans will have loftier ambitions than i have but that one signing should ensure we do not end up playing Friday nights next season. Oh and BTW Merry Christmas one and all.

Honestly mate, even without hitting the heights this season I reckon we'll scrape enough points to avoid that scenario anyway with or without a new keeper. Although there have been some memorable Friday nights of course! 😉

Merry Christmas buddy hope you and the family had a great time at the 'bedsit' 🎅🤶🧑*🎄

Definitely with a reliable solid keeper we can push into the top six

With Richards then more unlikely and looking at 6th-10th (which is still ok for second season back)

I think we have enough about us to avoid bottom two even with no additions, assuming injuries clear up a bit

I don't think our keepers are as bad as those we had at that time so the situation isn't the same.

Some good comments there on our Goalies. But.... If I can see it, you can see it, most everyone sees it, WHY ? haven't we learned as a club, that a decent keeper makes all the difference for various reasons? (and this has been for numerous seasons over the years)

Getting back on topic... zonal marking at corners is ok if there is no player at the back stick outwith your designated zone. Boyle FFS... it's his fav position at corners and wide free-kicks. Guy in front of me nearly fell oot the stand screaming "BOYLE...BOYLE....BOYLE"

Maybe the Celic' game half-time analyst should hae showed our team a few wee videos of Hibs at corners before the match???

I think we can be a bit quick to judge our keepers because they have been exposed by poor defending and by a midfield which are easily played through. Poor punching and decision making has however compounded the need to get someone that is more reliable. I see Craig Gordon's name getting thrown around, and although he is undoubtedly a good keeper....he is still more than capable of the occasional brain fart. Our keepers have pulled off some brilliant saves this season which are quickly forgotten when they are responsible for conceding cheap goals.
For me, we need a strong organiser in midfield and a mature head in the back line along with a new keeper, or we will probably just be seeing a groundhog day situation!

Banks as No.2 goalie and coach with Pernis as No.1 was a great goalie situation. Although Levein played Pernis when he was clearly carrying an injury. What is it with managers? Have two keepers pushing one another, any injury or illness, play the other.

See for the Aberdeen game I'd go:

    ----------------Richards-------------

    Nammo------SCH-----KK------Ferry

    Traps---Eskesen-----Sibbald---Fatah

    ----------------Dolcek----------------

    ----------------Sapsford--------------

It won't be because Goodwin will go for experience and playing his 343. He needs to give himself a shake. If Esselink starts and SCH doesn't that is rewarding poor performances. If Sevelj starts in midfield thats rewarding poor performances in midfield. Why sign Eskesen? Round pegs in round holes. Another thing is this inverted wingers pish. Watched the late great John Robertson skinning two markers hit the the byeline and crossed for his team mate to score. Play Traps on the right, ffs.
