Thread: This season is far from over!

Incredible to read the blind faith on here from the clan. Let’s be clear. Even with a win on Saturday, and another next week, we are still in loads of trouble. Six points is a minimum return.

So let’s focus on why we are in the position we are in. Two causes - first TS and his lack of attention to matters at the club over the past few years. But, I still maintain the budget provided this year is higher than the league position shows. Secondly, MH. He has done NOTHING to warrant him keeping his job. Disastrous signings, poor tactics, poor motivation and zero charisma. A man out of his depth.

The league table does not lie. They both need to be gone and very soon.

NWC, a couple of questions for you pal.

IF we get relegated and Tony is still here next season and, IF Matt Hamshaw is still the Manager will you renew your ST next season?

    Nothing personal just intrigued.

No I won't renew any of my 3 season tickets if MH is out manager in L2. TS owns the club we have no influence on him selling, so that wouldn't be a factor for me.

Is that because you still live abroad and don't get to many games or, have you moved back to Blighty and you're voting with your feet pal?

Brin - I dont mind if it is personal or not. I also dont mind if you think I am wrong or not but in answer to your question...

Yes because I am a Rotherham United fan and have been for 40 plus years. But I will tell you this Brin, after following this club up and down the country for that period, I have never felt more detached or disillusioned from this structure and management. TS's absence and neglect is objectional and I wont suck up the crap like a few on here seem prepared to do.

    What about you?

we moved back this year, hence why we have 3 season tickets. Doesn't mean I won't go to games home and away, when i can but it is because I do not rate MH at all and if he gets us relegated and he is still our manager then to me, that tells be a lot about TS custodianship and enough to say I am not buying into that.

NWC, apologies for the delay in responding but I couldn't log on at all last night just kept stating error 500.

I like you have followed the Millers for many many years, first game I saw was in 1967. For that reason I too will be renewing my ST irrespective if TS is still at the helm or if MH is still Manager. You follow the highs you take the lows that is what Rotherham United give you in the football world. Have to admit though, Euphoric highs are far better than relegation.

Onto TS, his absence this season has caused many a debate where I sit, on this website and in general. A strange way to approach what may well be his last season but, there's nothing concrete to substantiate he's stepping down at this current time.

He always use to have a weekly piece in the Tizer and was ever present at home and away games and it seems to have just slowly but surely trickled away. Is that the way of a custodian of our club to operate? I acknowledge the fact he's 81 this year and he has probably thought he would have more personal leisure time and who can blame him.

I met up with him on the last centenary celebration night at the NYS. He was in great spirits and outside on the landing our conversation ended up with Warney and Tonge joining in. I wondered how TS would deal with Warney but there wasn't an ounce of animosity between them, in fact it was good banter. In Tony's company you always feel welcome and he's easy to converse with, a likeable chap really.

As for your point that you never felt more detached or disillusioned from this structure and management this season, it has been a poor representation all around as far as comment from the top was expected but, what do we do, just ignore it all and just attend games as per? As for the man himself, it's his club, his money that assists in keeping us in the league, up or down, as for his personal life, he can do damn well what he wants.

Keep your chin up pal and enjoy another challenging rollercoaster ride to the end of the season. Whether we will be smiling at the end of it remains to be seen. UTM!

Derbs, thanks for the update I didn't know you had returned. As for Hammy being retained even IF we go down, I will still renew.

I see Hammy as Warney. First year, brand new at sole Management, I was initially very judgemental on his recruitments but did he choose those players himself? No one seems to have challenged that at all and just lauded all the blame on him as 'they are his players he brought in'. Who guided him to them as I'm sure he won't have achieved all that on his own? I'm still open minded on the three flops that have been sent packing but it's cost us big time.

He will and has surely learned from some of his mistakes but, he seems pretty insistent on playing 3 at the back. He's carrying the sword and he may well fall on it if things do not dramatically improve starting today!

Ask yourself this, how long have you been a Miller? Do you really want to walk away after all the years and times you have spent with your family up and down the country. I could not stand it when Taylor was in charge but I didn't miss a home game because of him and the amount of games we lost under Warney's first half of a season, that was sheer torture and bloody miserable but, I kept on going because I knew a change would come.

I hope you don't think I'm speaking out of turn but, don't turn your back on something you have done most of your life, things will change and hopefully for the better with or without Hamshaw in the dugout pal.

Not turning my back at all just not paying for three season tickets in the scenario I mentioned. I think the defence of MH is really scraping the barrel when we suggest he might not have selected them players in the summer. As for same as warne not the same at all. PW was a fitness coach asked to take over when we were already in a real mess and in the championship, MH had about 7 games last season with some decent players that left in the summer like Wilks and did ok. He then had a whole summer and recruited 13 players, he also wasted squad places on players like Kayode. He brought in his own coaches, his own fitness coach and according to PD been happy with the lack of full time staff in key positions in his back room, in the middle of the clubs biggest injury crisis. A man that stated himself he was happy they were doing all they could on that front. He is not doing very well the table doesn’t lie

    Thanks Brin.

I?ll correct one thing. It?s not his club. It?s our club. He owns the stadium and the players but he will never own Rotherham United.

He needs to let go and move on. I don?t know if he was there today, I don?t care. But it?s now time he puts the club up and let someone with the interest and passion to take over. His has gone and so that is his duty otherwise he is no more than Booth.
