Islay means the west coast of Scotland is pretty much a bigoted land where Catholics support Celtic and others support Rangers with around 10% being the opposite amongst the others support.
It dosent just cover football it just about covers every aspect of life
Ref walking to monitor....." Do I want hell to descend on me and my family for over ruling VAR".....20 secs and a glance or two later we got the answer.
Corruption either consciously or unconsciously.
Even if you are in business in the west coast, first question is what school did you go to ?
I took a job in Prestwick many years ago and that was indeed the first question. When I said Kirkton High they were flummoxed as it didn't really say one way or the other to them. Next question was 'what team do you follow' to which I replied 'Dundee', they're still not sure so next it was 'aye but are you a Celtic or Rangers man'? That question basically being are you catholic or protestant. When you say 'neither, I hate them both' they assume you're Jewish or Hindu or insane and leave you alone.
Some of them also assumed, because I was a Dundee fan and we wear blue, that I was protestant and they would say as much 'oh, so you're a Billy Boy then'? To which the only response I could ever muster was 'what the **** is a Billy Boy'. West of Scotland bigots flummoxed again.
Someone needs to make a stand or it will just continue, Motherwell should have refused to defend the penalty, it might just be a token gesture but actions spesl louder than words. Levein was going to take DABS off at Ibrox during the MCurry game, he should and took the fine on the chin. McCurry never refereed again bu it was too late the damage was done.
I know a person from Dundee who started a job in Glasgow.
On his first day he was asked what school he attended in Dundee.
He replied Morgan Academy which flummoxed the person asking the question.
Another way to try to find out a person’s religion is a handshake to try to find out if a person is a mason.
There are some masons who are Roman Catholics but not many.
I totally disagree with your post.
Beaton is a Roman Catholic and he took the easy option to give a Roman Catholic team namely Celtic who have a large number of Roman Catholics who are Celtic supporters a penalty.
If the same penalty incident had taken place at the other end of the pitch in the Celtic penalty box there is no way that Beaton would have awarded Motherwell a penalty.
This is the problem with Scottish football.
There is one set of rules for Rangers and Celtic and a different set of rules for all the other SPFL clubs and nothing will change until we get rid of Celtic and Rangers for good.
