1p on income tax would probably cover it or, we could just stop paying for migrants to stay in hotels and buying them phones and driving lessons and having doctors on tap to pay for it which is what I think you're driving at?

Love the way you've put your own spin on somebody else's post and given yourself a get out by putting a question mark at the end.

If elite wants to spell out what he means I'm sure he's perfectly capable of doing so, should he wish.

And whether someone who does that is fit to hold any sort of political office.

Aside from him all the usual suspects on the far right were falling over themselves yesterday to cause trouble over the Liverpool incident even in the short time before the police said what the background of the suspect was. As you say the police cant win.
You're conveniently leaving out the bit where he was right when he said we weren't being told everything.

The police couldnt give out the details straightaway because the suspect was under age.

But why do you or anyone else need to know all the details about a suspect whos safely in custody?

They're damned if they do and dawned if they don't to be honest. Yes, they've made a rod for their own back in the future, but had they just said "a ''XX-year old man is in custody" yesterday they would probably be dealing with riots in the short term.
It appears a 53 year old man as been arrested for dangerous driving and under the influence of drugs and attempted murder.

Well that's not true is it because hundreds of people will have seen the man and probably heard his voice as well.

I think it's plauisble. Do you think the kind of people who start malicious rumours in these cases would show self restraint because they might be contradicted online by people who saw his face?

If not using a pseudonym then probably yes.

There are two kinds of people who do this, those who are careless and do stuff as a knee jerk reaction (Lucy Connolly) and those who genuinely, want to cause mischief, the latter you will never be stopped.

So still leaving the door ajar to withhold information if it suits their agenda.

Helen King, former assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, said: "There will be times when police can confirm quickly. There are other times when it is unclear. These will always be complex and sensitive decisions.""

Regarding Southport, the 'facts' were known to police at the point of arrest yet they still held back.
