Starkly said in a podcast answering a question about slavery;Originally posted by Jampie View PostPaywalled for me. What's he say? Seen a few of his history docos and he's alright at that.
*Slavery was not genocide otherwise there wouldn't be so many damn blacks in Africa or Britain would there? An awful lot of them survived.*
You can see why the usual suspects have a thing for him.

I mean off colour comment and WTH with "damn blacks", but yeah slavery isn't genocide. It's slavery though... Why does every bad thing need to be labelled genocide now?Originally posted by BigFatPie View PostStarkly said in a podcast answering a question about slavery;

Back to Trump and the Ukraine peace deal, part of a sgtatement from the US read.
'The United States would work for a "just and lasting peace" in which European countries would take the lead in creating a "durable security framework".
Translated to (by me) that reads, 'President Trump will bend over for Putin and had him the lube, Europe will be paying for it.'
Seriously though, if Trump was suspected to be at the mercy of 'kompromat' during his first term, I reckon it's a gimme, based on his actions on this so far.

You see, this ois why so many despise the left, smug, nasty little comments that constantly refer to peoples level of understanding, intellect or educational background. It's time to find another approach to answering to that which you don't like.Originally posted by BigFatPie View PostHow old are you about 8? Admittedly it must be hard to hear a speech, think great I agree with that, only for someone to point out its a load of hypocrisy and nonsense.
Cognitive dissonance is a difficult thing to deal with.
I know you probably don't have much time to spare for the board, what with prepping all the meals for the migrants you're housing, top job btw.

Meanwhile, it's should be hoped that this flaky character, doesn't become a cereal offender.
In remarks likely to raise concern in Ukraine and among European allies, special envoy Keith Kellogg said previous negotiations had failed because too many parties had been involved.'

Quote:
"Historic ? that?s how this year?s Munich Security Conference is being described here.
There?s a profound realisation that the old "transatlantic partnership", the solid alliance between Europe and America, is broken.
Over the past few days, many European leaders? worst worries about their relationship with President Trump's team were confirmed.
They heard they shouldn?t expect to be at the table in any talks on ending the war in Ukraine.
Even more, that high level talks this week involving the Americans and Russians won?t even include Ukraine.
?Europe must stand up. We need to decide on the next steps to give Ukraine the opportunity to decide on its own future,? emphasised Estonia?s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna as he emerged from a meeting here convened by Europe?s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.
It?s already sparked an emergency meeting of some leaders in Paris on Monday to discuss Europe?s response, most of all how to strengthen its own resolve and marshal its own resources." Unquote.
Couple that statement with the start of US distancing from NATO (as we know it) must surely open the door for some sort of EU (?) led military force. Interesting, divisive and probably dangerous times ahead.

...we've known all along what a spineless bunch of politicians we have across Europe interestly driven, imo, by the lefy/often closet-socialists (forming the EU clearly demonstrated their intent on total control...remember, a state of the Regions, not nations) and who've also played a longish game in the UK by bottling up education since the 1960's and then applying their tendancy towards greed - Bliar et al. Well they're getting their reward; the immigration open door to 'curry' favour for votes and weak Cons [party intent on aping the American view of money-first...ably demonstrated by the Covid con.(Apologies to those families who suffered death)]. And what a reward, Mr Bliar & co - allowing third world immigrants the benefits of our evolved standards under some kind of sympathy/care for our fellow man - utter cobblers.
Maybe things are at last turning full circle. Younger ones may not recognise the paralells with the 1930's unless you've read about it. We have appeasement developing in full with the US - as in the 1930's trying not toget involved until something hurts them. And the treacherous Russians playing to their own rules, as ever.
How the EU, notably Germany, either missed or colluded with the Russions over energy supply is almost unbelievevable and got conned, again ... until you visit history, again.
It seems there are no leaders with an eye on the long game, anywhere. China is probably 10 years ahead of everyone and has subjugated its population to produce, in many cases, quality products and nowhere in the west looks like being able to catch them. They're well ahead on hydrogen fuel...and we're being conned by our greedy scientists into believing the answer is electric - (with China holding access to many of the world's raw materials - it would be funny if it weren't so serious, particularly for our younger people). Chagos, anyone?
Also worth noting, Europe, UK, Russia, Chine all have their establishment elite who are virtually immune from being called to account... greasing palms - the hypocracy of the left!
Whether by accident or design, ie., Trump deliberately upsetting all the apple-carts to bring some reality into the cosy, protected world of the EU; or just plain clumsiness (I doubt). We've known for decades that an underspend on armed forces brings its consequences...and now its happening.
We ought to blame ourselves for not taking enough interest in our own politics - hence the bunch of unqualified idiots who we entrust to pull our leivers of power. The Cons, drunk from delegating to the EU; the lefties lying their way in, again. Seems to me that perhaps we bought the 'dream' of comfort without responsibiities - holidays, cars, the good life. The right thing WAS to get out of the EU - it didn't take much to that see we were being corralled by the EU machine. Unfortunately, our lying, fecklass, double speaking representatives sold us out with the current (no) real deal.
However, I am optimistic that the circle will continue to turn. It may well get worse and a next step will be warefare - after the several more lebels of appeasement have run their course.Last edited by SwalePie; 16-02-2025, 05:44 PM. Reason: Reformatted text for readability. Ignored spelling etc..

Trump has appointed himself judge and jury in the Ukraine war. He will claim to have got (gotten) all parties around the table and say "Right, you guys have been fighting over this territory for a long time and many lives have been lost, so I've decided to solve it by giving you 50% each. Mr Putin you come first alphabetically so pick the half you want, Mr Zelenskyy you get what's left. Donald J Trump pledged to sort this crisis, and now I have".
And all of his supporters will proclaim him a hero.

I was reading the BBC world news this morning regarding Germany and the EU. With the German elections due in two weeks it says more and more younger people 20-30 are voting the for the far right and that 60% of EU young people are edging that way also. Frightening to say the least but it's what happens when governments fail to listen.

It's mostly the left's fault. People don't just become "far right" from one election to the next. People are fed up with the direction of travel and want change. It's a cry for help from normal people.Originally posted by i961pie View PostI was reading the BBC world news this morning regarding Germany and the EU.
