I am sure that after the latest lockdown easing Matt Hancock was saying that the message is still to stay at home when you can.

Totally wrong decision this, first we have heard from JRM since this all began, and what a mess now. Sorry but he seems to just stop things changing. Perfect opportunity to bring the Commons into the 21st century but he wants to take it back to the 18th.
Twether it be a good idea or a chit one, I think a vote by MP's in Parl decided the issue, not JRM. Or is it knock JRM week this week and I've missed the announcement?

Knocking JRM shouldn't be a weekly thing, it should be an hourly thing as a minimum.

The bloke is an utter ****.

But this is the same Govt who have said work from home if you can, don't use public transport unless you must. Now, they want to be back. Anyone who is shielding or self-isolating or because of age / medical conditions feels they need to stay at home cannot vote. How unjust is that?

No wonder lots of us feel that Parliament is stuck in the past when you have JRM keeping it there.

Then again, it would suit Dominic Cummings to have people travelling long distance unneccesarily.

I wouldn’t go quite as far as that. He is excessively traditionalist, as if the past was all wonderful and correct.

On this latest farce, JRM’s stance is discriminatory and removes the democratic vote of any MP who has to remain at home because of shielding or care needs. This is unfair to those MPs’ constituents particularly, and to all of us, as it means our Parliament’s votes are incomplete.

What’s more, this is another example of the Government not doing what it tells us to do. “Work from home if that is possible.” Parliament has shown in the last few weeks that it is possible, but Rees-Mogg is happy to make it impossible for MPs to do their job fully from home.

Apart from his fetish with doing things the Victorian way, what is Rees-Mogg’s motivation? Could it be anything to do with Johnson being uncomfortable with answering questions without the backing of a mob of braying supporters in the chamber?

Seems 2nd thoughts have been had.

In a brief aside from Priti Patel's statement in the Commons, Labour has responded to the PM's earlier comments about parliamentary voting.

The party has accused Boris Johnson of a U-turn after he confirmed during Prime Minister’s Questions that MPs shielding from coronavirus will be allowed to vote by proxy now that the House of Commons has ended remote sittings.

Actually, the vote for the resumption of the HOC was a 'whipped vote'. I was quite surprised about that, a 'free vote' should have been the order of the day for that particular question, IMHAHO.

Good, though I’d want to see the detail before deciding whether it’s an adequate response. I completely agree with your last sentence.

Condemed by others in the Lab Party, they never mentioned Knocker and a couple of others tho when they transgressed? Wonder why?

Starman needs to get a grip.

I'm assuming Knocker stands for Kinnock. If so why don't you post the photo of the 'birthday party' and see if you can spot any differences between the two situations that would warrant a different response.
