I'm fortunate enough that I haven't been in the "benefit system" since I was a slacker ****ager.
I've no doubt some claimants play the system, but I'm curious as to how.
Just because someone on benefit uses a mobile phone...well, a second hand phone passed onto them, or bought off Ebay, and a modest pay as you go sim doesn't strike me as egregious.
    A basic Sky package.......what, £22 a month?
That'll knock a hole in your monthly broo money, but possibly nae unaffordable if you budget right.
So I suppose, what I'm asking is, are there additional benefits you can get over and above the basic that allows extravagant living?
    I genuinely don't know.
Like you I had a spell on the "dole" in my youth, And yes back in them days it was a bit of a hand out, But these day life on benefits is demeaning and tough, Every hurdle is put in your way ! Benefit reform by this evil Tory chunts has hit so many hard, Sanctions dealt out in a punitive way, The Joseph Rowntree Foundation published a study a fairly comprehensive study and there was no evidence of "a culture of worklessness No people living the high benefit life (mobile phones were not an integral part o the study) This ""myth"" of a life of luxury on benefits is bullsh1t, I suspect the folk DD is referring to are just your average run of the mill ars4hole who would behave like a Minker even with an independent income outwith benefits.

Oh, there are arseholes in every social class, that's for sure.

Aberdeen seems particularly teeming with minkers just now, perhaps I mean junkies, although I wouldn't know what they get up to.

There are still minkers though, drugs or not.

The sanctions are bad. No matter what happens they don't give you a chance to explain anything and you automatically don't get your Giro if you miss or are late for your signing on appointment. I was treated decent enough by them in Aberdeen, but if you have to call them at their call centre your really are dealing with a right bunch of cretins. Run by Capita, who take more our of the taxpayers purse than all minkers, they are effectively the Governments SS. Also the reason food banks are so widespread.
You get up to £77 if over 24 and up to £61.05 if under 24. We all know that life is cheaper when you are under 24.

Call centres, one of the pleasures of modern living.

Definitely a special breed who work there, with the women generally being far more evil than the men.
Also they've all learned to speak in that nippy voice, made worse if combined with a weegie accent.

A HMRC bitch once said to me " haven't you got a house you can sell?"

Yeah, it’s definitely all the staff in all the call centres that’s the problem. Reminds me a when my dad saw my brother walking through the Renton on a BB march.

That's the thing. MPs have a duty to their constituents first and foremost. That's the bit I can't get in my head is why anyone would think people like Johnson, Mogg, Coffey, etc would give a flock about anyone other than themselves. I've no idea of the places they represent and have to assume the constituents and their MPs in these areas deserve one another.

It will be like 1997 again come the day when this lot lose their seats in the next general election, that was a good night.
