A Christie type player now and we should be sorted. Maybe a defender aswell but with Mckenna, Logan and Hoban to come back any new signing will probably not be a starter
We need a pacy winger too, as we can’t rely on GMS & McGinn, for fitness & form, all season.

I would take Christie is we bought him but definitely not on loan again. That's a sham.

Definitely a winger. We will rely on GMS too much otherwise.

Not questioning his ability (nor dazzled by his being on United's books).
But he'll have been loaned with the understanding he'll be a starting pick.
Which will hurt the development of Bruce Anderson, whose emergence is the one genuine positive of the season thus far.
The percentage we're paying toward his salary will likely absorb the Rooney transfer fee.
And at seasons end he'll move on, leaving us (due to our over reliance on loans) with another huge rebuilding job to do next summer.
Nah, the only player this will negatively impact on is (hopefully Cosgrove). An 18 year old was never going to start every game this season up front so we had to bring in someone who would be a regular starter. Anderson will quickly move ahead of Cosgrove in pecking order and will be first choice off the bench. If we are being honest, that is probably the best way to develop him this season with a view to him being a starter next season if he develops as we hope once Wilson is off to wherever he ends up. Anderson is different to McKenna (other than being a few years younger) in that McKenna could remain as a starter as he has the physique whereas Anderson looks as though he needs some time to continue to develop physically

Agreed a pacey winger, a skilful no 10 that can pick a pass to break down a packed defence and a six month contract on a spare centre back and we won't be far away.

In an ideal world would also want a LB but we all know that won't happen

I hope we are still looking to pay a transfer fee for someone! Need defensive cover and a winger. Preferably another striker but can't see it. On another note what happened with nowak 😂

As someone else said earlier, we need to sign a 20-goal a season striker, a creative wide player and a defender as a cover. Which of these three is James Wilson? Because based on the past 4 years he is not the 20 goal a season striker we require. Saying he is is can only be going by his name, his reputation as a youth player and the club we've 'signed' him from.

He deserves every chance and clearly has talent, and we should not give too much weight to what fans of other teams have said about him... but, many Sheffield United fans on twitter questioned both his ability and attitude.

In summary, I just can't get too excited about this one. I think it is damning that we have been unable to find a 20 goal a season striker to buy outright given: 1. the funds the manager has at his disposal; 2. the fact it is THE priority position we've needed to fill.

I sincerely hope there's more to come by way of signings.

    Not understanding your point.
The lad Anderson has had opportunities , primarily because we let Rooney go.
Was that foresight or luck from the manager, who knows.
Are you suggesting that we shouldn't sign another striker to let Anderson an opportunity?
Agree with this but this guy certainly is not that. Another injury prone player with a very poor goal scoring record and from what I have heard a poor attitude. Can see how this benefits everyone else apart from AFC. Stinks of short-termism.

All this Christie talk is fine. However, having shelled out £200K on Forrester, who appears to be a similiar type player, and even taking into account that we need strength in depth, would DM really spend about double that on a very similiar player, given we are still short out wide and in the full back areas?

Never heard of Wilson as I don’t follow English football but he seems to be fairly highly rated and needs to have a good season to get a decent move when he leaves Man Utd at end of the season, so hopefully that combination will stand us in good stead. I’m sure he’ll be better than what we currently have, but no idea if he’ll score 20+ goals. Time will tell.

I reckon we’ll get another loan signing (probably defensive cover) and a permanent signing of a more creative midfielder / winger. It will likely be someone we are aware of, Christie, Hayes, Allan, Stewart or something along those lines.

My point is AFC should be signing a Boyce or Moult type striker on a permanent deal, preferably two. 100% we should be signing a striker(s) and Anderson should be getting 20 mins here and there with the occasional start. I have no issues with Anderson being down the pecking order, but I do have an issue with him being behind Cosgrove or May. Irrespective of experience or reputation he seems to be the one with most to offer. I certainly have an issue with him being behind James Wilson. He may ram my words down my throat, however, I do not see this signing as cause for celebration. It remains to be seen if Wilson remains a first pick. His record suggests otherwise. I've seen enough of him to know what we are getting. Time will tell. We'll be picking up 20% of his weekly wage or thereabouts, it's a lazy acquisition and the economical one. Some can construe this as negativity, their choice, it's my honest opinion.
