Problem is I don't think we have any influence over the remorseless roll forward of the Commission hell bent on political unity, just one voice in 27. If we don't get out soon it may be too late, that bathwater is congealing
Actually it is, unfortunately, very important and although I liked your ‘rancid bath water’ analogy yesterday there was, imo, a better one from David Miliband this morning.
He likened Brexit to buying a house...said you wouldn’t dream of buying a house without a full survey. At the time of the initial referendum there was no such ‘survey’...just scaremongering, prejudice and hyperbole...yes from both sides if you like.
Three years on there has been something more like that ‘survey’...so why not vote again now that we are much better informed about what we will be buying out of or into?
Start with Malone but look out for a replacement if Forsyth doesn’t recover imo.
P.S. Thanks Tricky...we don’t agree but at least you’ve made a reasoned explanation of your take on things and your fear of a ‘superstate’ being your principle reason for voting ‘leave’.
An equally reasonable response might be...IF you’re right and that is an aim, wouldn’t we be better off being part of it than alienated from it?

Seriously...isn’t it better to be one powerful voice of 28 than to be alienated from 27 of our nearest neighbours?
Couldn’t care less about being l’etranger on here from time to time, but do we really want that in politico/economic terms for the nation as a whole?
Not as one political unit ruled by an unelected civil service, no, imho.
Fair enough. I totally accept that...but that’s surely a long way away. ‘They’ haven’t even got us to drive on the same side of the road or go properly metric in almost half a century of membership, let alone share the same currency.
I appreciate the concerns but the same people who tend to voice them also speak of a Franco/German ‘stitch up’. Surely if their voices are so ‘effective’ it shouldn’t be beyond us to make ours equally so and prevent what you speak of.
So you get all precious when I said you were never a good poster.. Yet say nothing when someone wrongly tries to label someone as a neo-facist.. Not really in the same envelope are they.. That approach is the weakest of all and I say AGAIN.. My response was in answer to Swaledales ridiculous comments which were not anything to do with Brexit, just labelling someone who he does not like. He is embarrassing himself but that’s the left now I suppose. Label something and then become a victim and try to take the moral high ground. Why you decided to jump in I have no idea.. Perhaps you and Swaldale are one and the same but have alter egos. To. E fair to Swledale, he has left it alone. Perhaps he has thought about it..70s boot boy, I will take that as a compliment..
Yes Adi presented a good post, he has more patience than me.. No argument here. Let’s see how long before you ask the same questions again..
Geoff is right and that reinterred my earlier point in that Remainers are now destroying this country.. By all means be vocal and state your new/current points but we now have remainers openly stalling the process and that is wrong., Accept the position and be part of making things better..
I am still quite close to Brexit from an HMRC perspective and attend various meetings here in London and in the EU.. However there is little point in posting anything on here as your minds are closed.
‘All precious’? Do behave.
Tbh Angry I couldn’t give a **** what you think of me, either as a poster or a person.
Suffice it to say that it is noticeable that there’s been no vitriolic name calling and a much more intelligent level of discussion in your absence and the fact that you take being referred to as the forum’s ‘70’s boot boy’ as a compliment tells me all I need to know.
Ha, ha. Full marks for subtlety MoP...zero for taste. That picture ruined my breakfast.
Now remind me...what is it he actually stands for?
