I’d also take a punt on the Diaz fellah from Blackburn if there’s a deal to be done for around £20M - probably not a world beater (Armstrong & Toney spring to mind in the EPL this season) but somebody to give a chance given the predicament we are in at the moment.

Wood is a goal scorer for a team that doesn't create chances.

We are a team who don't create many chances. We will be creating more chances with the likes of Trips coming in at rb.

He is precisely the kind of player we need right now. Dogged, battling, hard working no nonsense striker that puts the ball in the back of the net.

Glamourous, Marque, prestige no - what we need absolutely.

Great signing with plenty of resell value to be moved on in a year or two when we take the next step up.

Smart business destabilising one of our direct competitors also.

    Win win

Agbonlahor now saying he would have wanted more than Wood, if he was a Newcastle fan. Idiot, of course we want more but he will be handy in the short term.

Never thought I would say this but Merson have a more sesible view at it.

    That says it all really.

If anyone is worse than Merson then that is the ultimate putdown insult.

This could be our Brian Kilcline moment for season 21/22 albeit a forward not a centre half, could gain almost mythical status in the decades to come!

Wouldn't it be great to get a signing on the books as good as Killer Kilcline. That would solve the majority of the problems at this club.

We need any player that can score goals, In our situation, Wood will do.

Aye, I was thinking I was going to give him one game to prove himself.

At second thought that was a bit foolish. I'll give him two games. 😎

I saw Agbonlahor was also saying it was very unfair on Burnley us buying their key striker. . .I mean. . .what the ****. Where was all this whinging when Chelski took Ba off us.

    Pathetic man, really pathetic.
