For reasons too complicated to go into I found myself in the Falkirk end today. Saw his point blank save close up. What a cracker! Great performance from the lad.

Louis, did you get a view of either pen decision?

I was unsighted at the first and the second, of course, was at the opposite end from us.

Heroic stuff after going down to 10. Young Jim deserves a medal for one save in particular.

James Fowler made two very good subs at exactly the right time. Great team effort all round.

'Fraid not. I was unsighted at the second one due to lots of big bairns jumping up in front of me and the first was too far away. Oddly, I was fairly sure I saw one of the Falkirk players handle just before the ref blew for the second pen and thought the clamour was down to the ref blowing for that. Got a great view of Loy hitting the bar though!

Can anyone else clarify either decision?

Oh well, perhaps pictures will show why they were given. Durnan was getting done for pace and as he crossed behind the guy, the guy fell. I doubt any of the Quee

Is it possible to have a field day tonight?

The offence for the first penalty clearly took place outside the box but it was a foul. As for the second offence, it was at the "wrong" end for Queens' fans so it is difficult to comment. I assume that Durnan prevented a goal scoring opportunity with his hand or arm. I really don't know (and I doubt if any of the away support knows for sure) but everyone in the home stand seemed to be in no doubt that it was a penalty
Was Durnan having a good game up unti then? Not really, but neither was any one of the back four, particularly in the first half. They were being caught in possession, passes were going astray and they were half a yard off the pace (which was the cause of the first penalty). That said, our mid-field was no better and when the substitutions came in the second half I thought i

Strange game , bit of everything thrown in good ,bad and awful. Thought we were very poor first half with defence struggling to cope with Loy and Baird's movement. ( thought Baird was effective and gave Higgins hard time, did not play that well for us on many occasions ) ? First penalty was soft Durnan did have a tug at Loy who as usual went down easily , in box ? Like last year a queens player was injured at other end of park as play developed before pen? incidentally though Loy celebration was out of order. Lucky to be only one down at half time as midfield overwhelmed.
Houston's tactics were to press us high up the pitch not allowing us settle on the ball and to play it out and we did not cope very well.
Second half was great entertainment with both sides having chances and we played decently, good equaliser. Second pen no idea if handball ,but how linesman gave it and not ref who was closer and in a better position is puzzling, maybe justice done with miss? Ten men posed prob

Praise from our opponets on the Falkirk website:

All in all, an exciting game and Queens will be better pleased with the outcome. They maintain the two points differential and have a game in hand. They are a good side and will take points off several teams. Falkirk played some good stuff, but they will rue that missed penalty

As others have said we really struggled in th first half with Kidd struggling to get into th game in midfield which left us a bit swamped. That said we only conceded as a result of a very poor penalty decision - offence clearly outside th box!

Much better second half although I thought we allowed Falkirk to cut us open too often and Jim Atkinson had a great game.

Durnan had an uncomfortable afternoon by his own high standards but his dismissal was crazy - not sure what a player is expected to do when a shot is blasted at him from point blank range?

Mark Millar had a quiet game but displayed enough to suggest that he could be a valuable addition. Still think we have been naive in letting Baird join Kerr at Falkirk and on the evidence of yesterday he will do well for them. Only surprise was that the inevitable Baird goal failed to materialise.

Good gutsy second half performance - Danny did very well as did Paton when he came on.

How does Kidd get a game ahead of the guys who came on as subs yesterday?

Thought the first penalty was a travesty as it was definitely outside the box and loy made the most of it by throwing himself to the ground and making sure he won the long jump by landing inside the box. That said it was a stupid tug by durnin as loy was going nowhere with his back to goal and all the big man had to do was stand his ground so for that one it was an error of judgement by big mark that allowed loy the chance make the most of it. Then to compound matters the celebration after the goal was sickening.

Loy had received no stick from the queens support and he chose to pose in front of us and wind a few up. Totally classless in my opinion. I would have understood if it was Baird or Kerr, but for loy to do that, I hope he hangs his head in shame the next time he comes home.

The second pen was too far away for me to see clearly, and it happened so quickly. The one thing I am certain of was that durnin didn't have his hand out from his body and if it struck his hand then I am
