Yes, Jim Atkinson was a bit rash at the penalty, but to suggest that he cost us the game is absurd. Overall, we were outplayed by a better team that deserved to win. He was similarly rash last week at Falkirk and very nearly lost us the game. However, he is now twenty years old; still young but no longer an emerging teenager. He cannot gain experience sitting on the bench week in and week out as he has done in the past. In my opinion, Queens have to decide if he has sufficient potential to play him regularly in order to gain experience at Championship level: or we should bite the bullet, find an experienced goalkeeper and let him go. For what it is worth, I'd persevere with him.

I like both keepers and happy with either in goal. But if against Cowdenbeath Jim plays in goals and gets an injury what keeper do we have for the cup game?
Also does a red card v Cowdenbeath for any player mean missing the cup game?

    Joe Tulip, excellent post.

If Jim is injured on Saturday, we would be forced to bring in an on loan keeper completely unused to the team.

Red card for 2 yellows would as I understand mean a suspension for league games. Straight red e.g. for violent conduct would mean that player missed the next game, in this case the cup match.

Do we gain him the experience at the cost of 4th spot?

    1) how does a player, especially a goalkeeper, gain experience at a particular level (in this case, Championship level), without playing regularly at that level? and 2) is Zander C a substantially better keeper than Jim A? After all, Zander makes his share of mistakes, too. I doubt whether we play Jim or Zander will be a determining factor in where we finish in the league.

Keep Jim in goal for the Cowdenbeath match then bring back Zander after the cup game. Jim will get plenty of match experience next seaon no doubt.
