I hope nothing for now. Where is the legal judgement that says Dario/Bowler tuned a blind eye? If is it proven in a court of law there was further wrong-doing at the Alex then yes, I'll agree that the parents should question the integrity of the club and take whatever steps they deem fit. And I agree every supporter at that point should spin the 'ashamed to be a supporter' line - but not before.

To compare this with Savile is totally wrong. Bennell was convicted, Savile was not and was also able to manipulate the largest broadcast organisation in the world (if you must make a comparison).

I've been the first to think this season that Steve Davis would be over qualified if he was managing the Shell garage down the road from me but I can't help feeling there'd be a different reaction from the fans if we were still in the Championship - and also the press.

Rubbish friend, there is NOTHING to 'like' on this thread, NOTHING and one abused kid is too many IF and I add IF and it was all hushed up and glossed over by the then board. Nobody is turning their back on this club as the club is and was always NOT the club of Gradi and Bowler, no matter how many times they tried to say it was. It was created over a hundred years ago and hopefully it will come through it but it will take a NEW board and a new vision that we can still be a decent club without all the expensive academy and its over rated coaching and dozens and dozens of non footballing staff who are draining the life blood out of the club anyway and all this means the end of all that should come quicker than it may have done but long standing fans have no reason to desert the club as long as its sorted but as we all know too well. The PR of this club and its closed to real scrutiny about its financial dealings and its appointments has been long been appalling and needs to come to an end! The initial reaction to this latest scandal was therefore no real surprise!

Never underestimate the power of self-deception. And to describe this scandal as a 'media witch-hunt' is, although I'm sure unintentional, pretty insensitive to the victims. They think Crewe have a lot to answer for and without the media those questions would not be asked. Witches don't exist, *****philes and their enablers do and unfortunately it seems cafc was full of them.

The only person who needs to worry about libel and untrue statements is the ex director surely? Nobody is denying that abuse took place and its a case as usual as who knew what when and what was done about it? Also has Steve Walters confirmed it all and that other kids were involved or not?

I'd be more than happy to provide my full name to the relevant authorities if Crewe should wish to sue me for libel. In my opinion they would find it difficult to prove that the claims I've made are a) false (Bennell was after all convicted of offences committed at Crewe and there is substantial recent evidence of many people at the club who were aware and did not act) or b) that my intent was to cause reputational damage to the club (I am or have been a longstanding supporter of the club). Rather my statements reflect my revulsion at recent information revealed about the nature of the organisation we have been funding with our hard-earned.
