Thread: OT: Grenfell Tower fire

They've all done a magnificent job.

The job is hard enough without having to double up as a political pawn.

I think people on here know I'm no fan of Corbyn and have disagreed vehemently with MMM, John2, Brassgnat and other lefties. But I have worked in this area of London as a surveyor. I am still (although retired) bound by the Official Secrets Act so can say little. But gm-gm and grist are really talking out of their rrses on this occasion. I have been present at meetings when councillors from Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster Borough Councils (both Conservative) have virtually orgasmed at the prospect of turfing out the working class occupants of their housing estates and flogging them off for yuppie refurbs. If you don't believe this I don't frankly give a toss. I don't like champagne socialists but I really don't like working class Tories who think they've made it and don't realise that real Tories despise them.

    Grist....

"some are statesman like enough to know when to talk and when to stay quiet"

If there is any time to talk it's NOW !

Just watched the cross party emergency meeting and the two ministers were both drowning in palliatives and digging a hole for themselves I hope they can't get out of !

NO....if it was your family up there I want JC to shout shout shout at the top of his voice and for as long as it takes....

The Tories will bury this with a long drawn out study by Lord Senile who's a specialist in white-washing.

Statesman.....OMG........Did you not see those flames.....NOW is the time to speak out.......the 96 took 25 years...to get "Justice"....but what justice is there after 25 years....JC must push this down someone's throat until they choke on it.......and John Healy will watch every move !

Kensington and Grenfell Tower will become a metaphor for capitalism and it's affects on those left behind and ignored .

Even today the PM , if that's the right title these days couldn't offer words or comfort to the residents , a quick visit to survey the scene and whisked away promto to get on with the more important business of retaining power at any cost no doubt .

The Labour leader by contrast talked to the residents , comforted some and listened to what they had to say .

One man cares about normal people and clearly the PM does not on today's evidence .

I'm not out to make political gain here I'm just saying how it is and what is coming to light , some labour people haven't handled this well either and should leave the buildings recent refurbishment for the right time and place .

Kensington , where great wealth and poverty collide and not even the PM can be bothered to say at least a few words and listen , shameful but completes the metaphor in full .

    Very sad .

I really don't understand the political point scoring on this.

The most important thing is that the families get justice and the ones guilty are prosecuted whichever party they represent.

    RIP to all the victims.

And the sad truth that after all the furror (Made up word) , finger pointing, and blaming of who's to blame (Council planners in my opinion), the dead will still be dead, what an awful way to perish RIP Grenfell.
