Thread: Wake up

  1. #41
Donzy your match previews are fed through various social media and footie sights and the response is excellent.

For example, a couple of dozen North American Clarets regularly comment on and discuss your content.

Your stuff is found on the BFC News NOW feed and the figures show your match preview is read regularly by over a thousand viewers.

    Not at all bad!

Gudmundsson is a bit of an enigma, a very intelligent player but a bit lacking in pace. He took a while to adapt last season then just as he seemed to be hitting form he got injured, he came back, took a few games to hit his straps, then picked up another injury. He's had a couple of quiet games so far but it does seem to take him a few games to get himself going, so I'm hoping he can stay injury free and become a very useful player for us. For what it's worth, imo he has a lot more to his game than we've seen yet at Burnley, and another pointer is that Dyche clearly rates him, as soon as he's fit, he starts him, he could be a big player for us this season.

I've only recently started posting on this forum regularly, so I've no idea why there's no player ratings thread. It's a sound enough suggestion and easy enough to start one, so if no one else does, I'll start one myself after the next game I've seen.

I agree with you about Brady, he was awful against WBA. He's been a disappointment since he arrived, and despite paying £13m for him Sean wasn't giving him regular starts last season. You can see the ability, he can be lethal with that left foot, but strangely he seems to lack confidence in himself at times and struggles to do the simple things well. Scored one and made one last night, maybe a turning point for him, like Joey I think there's a lot more to come from him, we ain't seen nothing yet....hopefully.

I think your original criticisms were fair enough, if made maybe a tad too aggressively. No one is forced to read or contribute to this forum, so if they don't like it the way it is the solution is obvious. Those that do stick around clearly like it the way it is, and I think you'll find all the contributors, while having different opinions and personalities, are a decent, friendly enough group of people. And tolerant of others who treat them with respect.
    I rate this, highly.

Good, proper football talk and I thank you for that. Even if there was one post like this at the end of every match, it would make for such good reading. I prefer hearing what the fans have to say about their own team than a journo that just takes a stab in the dark. Some of the comments they make could legitimately be no further from the truth.

But I tend to agree with other posters too.

The OP seems to have an ulterior motive here. He/she is describing what is available on another site - which he/she must be aware of.

If that's what you want then fine, but I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole for several reasons.

Constructive criticism/suggestions are fine and very welcome but I suspect that the OP was not really about that at all.
I am genuinely not trolling, nor do I have an ulterior motive.

All Burnley forums, including the others, lack relevant content. I can point you to clubs that have booming forums with proper discussion and ones like this one and West Brom's that are poor.

I love football, I can talk about all 20 clubs in the league and happily have an outsiders discussion with all of you. I grew up supporting Arsenal but have very much diversified and probably know more about your side at the moment than some on here.

A post match chat, and player ratings, would be a huge improvement to this forum and spark real proper discussion. It also lets those who don't watch games on here regularly track how players are going, rather than blindly thinking a player is superb when the truth is far from it.

You are all going to get defensive at me for suggesting something, I get it. I've been told to **** off and called a troll when trying. But my intentions are good and I am being genuine. If I wanted to troll, there are far far more creative ways I could do that.

The said poster is not the type of football fan we are looking for on here but in a way he should be igniting a debate on current site content.

Even though we are relatively small in number there is too much reliance at the moment on certain posters to start threads eg oldcolner.

Sinkov , try the players ratings thread and I hope you have better luck than me. I tried it when we restarted and gave up after a few weeks. I drew the conclusion that either not enough posters go on games/ watched on line, or couldn't be arsed.

I also think that generally speaking when a non football thread comes up there is as much if not more interest shown than in many football related threads.

One suggestion I will make is about the match day thread. Once the match is over, instead of continuing to post on the thread making points, why not make your points on a separate thread.

I saved my last point to last . BT asked me to do match previews which I enjoy doing. I try to include personal opinions in the hope people will disagree or add to my comments. However sometimes I feel I am wasting my time with the lack of response they bring.

In summary, the OP has come over as a prize prick but similar to Sinkov , the said prick's points shouldn't be all treated with the contempt he has shown this board ie US
Thank you for actually taking on board what I said.

Unless I get banned, I plan to hang around here so naturally if I have an idea or suggestion I am going to speak up. A pre-game thread where real fans (you guys!) give their expected line ups, a post-game thread where real fans (you guys!) give your views and a player ratings thread where real fans (you guys!) discuss how the players play.

As I said, I watch Burnley games where I can but on weeks that I can't, I don't want to rely on the Mirror giving me some bull**** ratings and match discussion because 9 times out of 10 it's crap. I'd prefer hearing it from the horses mouth, being you guys who actually watch the games and know your clubs standards.

I'll put a player ratings thread up Cudareli and see what interest it generates. I'm not sure it will be more illuminating than the Mirror ratings though, we all watch the same games, same team and players on here, but you'd never think so from the divergence of opinion.

James Tarkovski is a fine example, some of us think we have the next Bobby Moore on our hands, others wonder what on earth Dyche is playing at, not signing a 'proper' replacement for Keane.

Surely the forum can adapt a little? Why don't we give player ratings or call out the players who played well and who didn't?

I'll start, I thought Robbie Brady was horrid on the weekend, piss poor.
I would recommend dropping both. our team is a poor as our forum, Our shots are as wayward as you being on this forum. If you are playing the premier league fantasy, i do recommend pairing Heaton with Courtois for at least the first 23 gameweeks. one of them is always at "Home"

here are the current player ratings... (bear in mind (not a real bear)) that it is the same every season

    Heaton 9
rest of team 5 or 6

if a player is lucky and shoots or passes accurately and this ends up in a series or accuracy mixed with luck and we actually score a goal they "MAY" get a 6 and a half.

This is standard and not needed to be discussed regularly!

On the Robbie Brady note, I think most Burnley fans have a lot of time and even more patience for Rob. He works to a game plan and he is getting better at it.

There are no individuals in our team.. Only a team..

Hope this helps you with your fantasy.

I have Mee, Heaton and Vokes in my team
Vokes was captain in the first week.

I really hope you have read all of this. and wasted 3 minutes of your life..

I am amused by your posts, it makes me thankful. That i don't actually know anybody as pointless as you!

In a weird way I am also a fan of you!

Anyway, tell me more about yourself. It seems to me you are looking for a dating site. I have heard that Grinder is popular...

I am 42 i speak 6 languages and have supported Burnley all of my life, I had several years of betrayal when i was at the ******* Rovers academy, but still wore my Claret and Blue underneath my shirt.

    Currently i live in Dublin.

You can stick player ratings where the sun dont shine- usually where the deadwoods play.

I rate Defour. Does that help?
