It's probably too late for the OP but in my opinion although Elupos on Effingham street is very nice, the best Italian in Rotherham is Mario's on Kimberworth Road.

It's so good despite not many people know it's there they don't need to advertise because it's always sold out. You have to book weeks in advance to get a table.

nice looking restaurant.. very friendly staff, leather cream seating with white table clothes.. views through to the kitchen where meals were being prepared. drink selection was ok though larger was peroni or a Italian brew ive never heard of so stuck to the peroni
plenty of choice for starters and main meal. when its just me n the mrs we order what we fancy and put it in the middle of the table n share
we had spicy meatballs with tomato sauce, garlic bread with cheese and buffalo mozzarella, tomato n rocket with balsamic vinegar/olive oil dressing for starters.
main was ham n mushroom pizza, fries, chicken in white wine sauce with blue Stilton, roasted veg (beans, carrots, spuds)
desert was crepe filled with vanilla ice cream, choc sauce and cream, and a banana split..

really enjoyed the meal as its different to what we normally try.
spicy meatballs were delicious. chicken with Stilton n wine sauce was also wow as was the banana split.
everything else was nice. only negative was the crepe, pre cooked and served cold. was a bit rubbery and being filled with icecream it would have been nice to have it warm....
3 pints, 2 soft drinks plus food above £75 solid 7.5/10
Cayton glad your good lady and yourself found it to your liking. Drinks.... have they taken the boddington off?
Always found their menu palatable and reasonably priced. As for the crepe, surprised it was served cold? Personally I would have sent it back which is something that Stephan or Nino would have dealt with swiftly as they pride themselves on a great customer service.

Need to book in soon myself for a family birthday celebration that's pending.

7.5/10 is a good score to give considering the crepe mishap. Glad you enjoyed it.

Apparently it has closed according to trip advisor.

Can't understand why because it was awesome and always booked up for weeks in advance.

I've not been for a couple of years myself though so it could've gone downhill.

Kimberworth is not great for food.

There was a pub there that was recommended on Trip Advisor and it had the cheapest, chewiest beef I'd had since I'd last been in hospital.

    Manor Barn that's it.

may have just been a bad day I suppose.
