What do you all think by the way about the National League's (the former Vauxhall Conference) change of format in the Play offs this season, and whether the Efl will make the same changes for the Play offs in all the Leagues ?.

What they did is make the 6th & 7th teams go away to the 4th & 5th teams in a one off match, with no replays and no second legs etc. Then those winning teams went away to the 2nd & 3rd teams in further one off games, and then of course the remaining two teams meet in the one off Play off final.
I like this idea as it does give the home advantage at least to the higher placed teams after the 46 games, do we think this idea will catch on.

I don't think it will. Any system should be a fair one to all involved. The current one gives a minutely small advantage to, in the SBC, the teams finishing 3rd and 6th as they have a day extra between the 2nd leg and the final but as the gap is a week and a half anyway, it's a miniscule difference. Higher placed team at home in the 2nd leg is also seen as an advantage but that aint necessarily so.

This trial method would see one team having to play more games than another. It would see those placed 2nd and 3rd in the position of having had a bit of a rest their opponent hadn't had but, as DCFC knows only too well, a break isn't always an advantage. #7 beats #4 five days after game 46 and then plays #2 four or five days later. #7 might be tired. They might get an advantage as they haven't had a 10 day break in which you can get rusty.......

I understand the reasons for the playoffs but I still think top 3 going up is fairer and a just reward for a year's work.

I'd go with the 3rd placed team automatically being at Wembley, a reward for being the 3rd best team

5th plays 6th at the 5th place teams home

Winner of that plays the 4th place team at the 4th place teams home

    all one off matches

I like the idea of the 3rd team going straight to the final, but that just complicates it then involving the 3 other teams.
Under the current format how about they give the 3rd & 4th teams an 'away goals advantage' if the two legs end up level.

Look out, the SKY Gestapo are on patrol to exterminate those with such blasphemous thoughts of proposing LESS play-off matches for SKY to televise!!
    How very dare you.......
