The BDR system that we use is far superior than the system Sheffield uses. Sheffield (as we would expect) have this “we know best” attitude and when it was set up refused to be part of the BDR agreement preferring to go their own way. Oddly though Sheffield has in recent months joined in with the BDR councils on ways to get a joint waste strategy.

The BDR plant at Manvers is one of the best in Europe and has a really good record of reducing landfill waste whilst at the same time providing fuel for the Ferrybridge power station. When originally planned though the usual collection of nimbys raised many objections and it was nearly cancelled. Such is the waste problem in the UK we are now approaching the need to build a sister plant in the area but just where it will go and how it would be financed is up for debate.

They ought to have a clear instruction, we get through quite a few cartons. I think i will probably put it in with the plastics until they give me a bolloking. It's hardly my fault if they don't tell me I'm trying to carry on recycling.

Looks like you can recycle them here (except that last one).

    http://www.tetrapakrecycling.co.uk/t...ncil=rotherham

EDIT: Can take them to that last one even though Tesco has shut.

Cartons, such as Tetra Pak are not collected, but can be taken to the local recycling points at:

    Dalton (Asda)
    Dinnington (Tesco)
    Kiveton Park (Co-op)
Town Centre (Forge Island Car Park)
    Wath (Library Car Park)

Who's representing the colour blind in this argument? I demand they scrap the colour coding and bring in another way to differentiate because people are making fun of me when I get it wrong.

PS Don't laugh, I'm sure this will happen in today's society. Here I'd be suing someone

There is also braille on top of the bins...I feel sorry though for those who may be blind and have no fingertips

Its probably all part of the plan gf...to confuse us all which takes time up, which in turn stops the boredom, and keeps us occupied like a big jigsaw from a charity shop with pieces missing..good idea really..not in the same class as previous ideas though..i mean,...town centre television, ears of corn and rotherham by the sea will take some beating..

BTW if you live in Rotherham you might notice that the paper and card bin and the glass/ tins and plastics bin get emptied at the same time and go in the same bin lorry.
Truly stsggering. It will take them best part of 30 seconds to work out.
