A Which? report into the travel industry says holiday companies are offering credit notes and not refunds. I doubt its Tui that made the refund.

"According to the travel industry’s own estimates, up to £7bn could be owed for cancelled trips. However, industry bodies such as Iata, for airlines, and Abta, for travel firms, say firms would be bankrupted by repaying now as they are receiving no booking revenue."

Just paid for a holiday in Rhodes (on request from Jet2) on the 25th of June knowing there is little chance of actually going.

TUIs credit rating is taking a bashing with S&P and Moody downgrading, also, I think credit card charge backs will also take its toll

Just this minute cancelled mine with Jet 2 for mid July. Took the hit and lost the deposit.

Jet 2 look in better financial shape than Tui.

Tui are laughing at people cancelling holidays WanchaiMiller, all the deposits they are keeping, especially where people pay so much money on their account, so losing more than their deposit.
Better to pay balance if you have been paying on your credit card, then do a Section 75 claim.
I will be doing a Section 75 with my Jet2 3 week holiday to Turkey.

I think the gist of what Which? is saying is the holiday industry is in crisis. If great numbers demand money back many companies it will fold. The best we can hope is they survive the isolation period and hope to resolve refunds some point in the future when trading again.

Cant see Tui is laughing at anyone. The holiday industry if in serious trouble.

Do what you like, Im not going to add to the problems. Jet 2 are welcome to my deposit if it helps them. My fear is that by cancelling it tips them still further and we dont have a holiday industry in the future.

Tell that to the hotels abroad that Tui have told won't be getting paid, after their block booking of hotel rooms, & how this spirals down to people losing jobs, firms going under.

Like i said before, turns out Tui have not paid the hotels, for clients who stayed in them in January, February, March 2020, so hotels in limbo, plus Tui have told hotels that they will have to wait 120 days to get paid after tourists have stayed in the hotels, when & if the holiday's do start.
Look what happened with Thomas Cook holiday's when they went under, tourists on holiday in the hotels abroad were given the hotel bills for their stays, because Thomas Cook had not paid the hotels.
The hotel bill should be paid when you are in the hotel by the holiday companies.
I have done many DIY holiday's, flights, transfers, & hotel separate, & paying my hotel bill when I get to the resort.

Exactly what Ive been telling you for weeks. The holiday industry in crisis.

I dont think that you claiming refunds or me cancelling in any way helps the situation. We are adding to the hotel closures and job losses.
