All governments are sh-t in some people's eyes, Jacinda in NZ is getting stick from some quarters even though to the outside world she has done well.
No government will win in this situation, especially from the people who loath them whatever they do.

So the Sydney Morning Herald and CNN ‘loathe’ the British government whatever they do? That’s exactly why I posted those links to avoid the tedious allegations of bias. International sources are a usually a decent take for that reason.

If people are really criticising Ardern I’d love to see the rationale because the stats alone look pretty good for her.

... many of the 100% Hindsight Mob are the Remoaners, exacting 'Remoaners revenge'. Perhaps they should have emigrated to Germany, France or Italy where they are all brothers together ... oh, wait; is that the same Germany and France which wouldn't supply Italy with support to fight CV19. Would you really want to live there ...?

And yet again, our "no political bias at all" correspondent doesn't want to listen to a word said against Boris & Co!

You are obviously on the right i961, I would respect you far more if you just admitted it.

Just the sort of stupid response I would have expected.

It's the usual idiot approach, just discredit the source or the poster even if they are spot on with what they are saying.

A little strong shipmate. Anyway, my wife and her colleagues would like to thank you for your £80 donation. To think, all you asked in return was a statue be erected at the QMC entrance.

You can add Ireland to the list, too - I've seen articles here in much the same vein as the one you posted, BFP. And like the one from the Times that was linked on here a few days ago.

But, once again, it's all down to the same BS. If you voted for Brexit then Boris can do no wrong, despite any amount of evidence to the contrary.

Hindsight is the only way we will eventually get any answers. I don't think that many people expected to find the solutions to this crisis on NCM, but surely it's reasonable for them to expect the government to show enough foresight to do a reasonable job of handling this crisis as a minimum.

    Good points:

Building the Nightingale hospitals so quickly. Even though they are largely unoccupied, I wouldn't criticise the government on this one. At least they were proactive and took a safety first approach.

The financial package offered to furloughed workers and businesses. Maybe a few flaws, but overall a quick and generous solution.

    Bad points:

Much too slow in implementing a lockdown. While other countries were quick to do it, we were still advising that the best course of action was to wash your hands a lot while singing Happy Birthday twice.

The abject failure to provide frontline NHS staff with adequate PPE. Yes, there was a global shortage due to unprecedented demand, but the governments with foresight got the pick of what was available, and the rest (us) had to scramble around and make do with what was left.

Testing / Tracing / Tracking - once again it seems that we were desperately slow to realise the value of this. The governments who did realise it will have much lower death rates than we will end up having.

Care homes - It was instantly clear that the people most vulnerable to coronavirus were people over 70 with pre-existing medical conditions. Incredibly, nobody in government seemed to work out early on that the vast majority of people in care homes were people over 70 with pre-existing medical conditions, but no special measures were put in place.

TheBlackHorse can insist until he is blue in the face that nobody would have handled this any different than Boris did. The truth is that some countries did handle it differently, and they made a much better job of it than this bunch of losers did.

"TOO LITTLE TOO LATE" should be the epitaph engraved on this government's gravestone.
