At least we agree on something.

You just came to the conclusion for the wrong reasons.

A decade of tory austerity has led to the early deaths of around 150,000 people, far more than covid. strangely none of the right-wing fascist journos have expressed any sympathy at all.

But if lockdown saves grannies and grandad only, then it is surely worth it.

Take covid out of it, and lockdown is horrendous, but argue that lockdown can be adapted. Make sure people who are not coping get the help they need. Make sure that people who are ill can get medical help. Find a way to let family see each other, but the principle of lockdown is sound. The drop in cases during lockdown one show that.

Lockdown is far from perfect, but you can't let perfect be the minimum level, otherwise you would do nothing.
Cases were falling before lockdown 1 had any impact.

Only time in history healthy people have been quartined and put under house arrest.

We disagree as I think the principle of lockdown is sickening.

They only had a go at it here because Italians complied and they thought they cud then do it......Italians now rebelling.

Lockdowns, whatever you think of them are not the problem,it's all the other stuff needed during lockdown that didn't happen that is the problem.i am pretty sure lockdown has been terrible for the vast majority, but if done properly, there is no reason why it wouldn't work. If Boris had closed the borders,if he had ensured anyone needing any help got it,if he had made sure nobody suffered financially, then lockdown one could have had a massive effect.

If families were allowed to see each other,if he hadn't sent the old folk back to their nursing homes,if he had acted quicker, all of these things probably would have made a difference.

But Boris doesn't like giving bad news, so he dithered.

I think if lockdown one had lasted a month, the borders had been, and remained closed, and nobody lost any money,we could have pretty much eradicated covid, restarted the economy, and be in a position similar to New Zealand now.
Playing lockdown hokey-cokey is the problem, telling us everything will be fine one day,and we are all doomed the next is the problem. Telling us how well the UK is doing when any idiot can see it's not true, that is the problem.

Seems strange that the guy tested positive, was sent home to isolate so clearly wasn't particularly ill, and died the next day.

Also strange that nowhere does it say he had no underlying condition, maybe that should be assumed because it doesn't say he did. He was clearly a bit simple though, most conspiracy theorists are.

I started typing a long answer but there's no much more I can say except I fundamentaly disagree but I do appreciate you don't try and stifle debate. Honest.

Covid is here we live with it or hide from it.....I want to live but as I've said before I just ignore the vast majority of the stuff now and try and enjoy what's left of my time on the planet.

I'm lucky I don't need to work, don't have bairns to support, no mortgage or rent don't really depend on services and unless the chancellor has a flupey will be ok.

Those a generation or two behind.....I don't envy.

If I ever start playing golf again I might get you with a stray ball, never could hit the thing straight.

And anyway as a compulsive denier I'd just say it was suicide.
