Well if the officials aren't responsible for bad decisions then who is?

Maybe time to introduce an NFL type principle around officials and have them work together as a team, week in week out and if they are adjudged to have a 'bad day at the office' the whole team are 'rested' for a period of time. Obviously doesn't work if all the 'teams' are crap so the league ends up with nobody to officiate

Well it makes more sense than what we've got in this country CAMiller. It's beyond a joke now and we seem to be getting poor "officials" week in, week out.

The big issue with what I'm going to propose is that there doesn't seem to the depth of quality to put it into action. However, as you have mentioned the NFL, I mentioned before about being a big fan of the NBA, should there not be more of them on a pitch? 3 officials on a basketball court, nowhere near the size of a football pitch, idk how many on an NFL game, 3 at least I'm guessing, the linesmen should be there to run the line and get those decisions. Why not have 1 or 2 more refs on the pitch so they have better angles and arent getting from 50 yards away when the ball is pumped to the other side of the pitch and there is a coming together? Instead they guess. I get there may not be the numbers nor quality but surely it would help. Hopefully it would help.

I guess it's a money question and the big boys are putting their money on the big man in the sky (aka VAR). Otherwise at least doubling the on pitch officials to 6 would be advantageous. 1 ref and 2 'linesmen' per half.

Yeah. Often, not always, VAR can settle offsides, penalties etc and whilst they are glaringly the biggest decisions having more officials would help with the general flow and so called 'standard' decisions on innocuous freekicks etc. That is where a load of problems come from, continual bad calls that wind people up and up. I for one don't expect perfection but there has to be a link between the amount of errors a referee makes compared to other sports. They are expected to see so much, all angles. Damn, I'm kinda defending them Haha

I.M.O that "v.a.r." is a waste of time. It's got to the point of disallowing a "goal" now because a players finger was in an offside position. It's a joke and sums up what this country has become. Once a great country but now it's a laughing stock.

Offsides are being ruled out for fine margins in all countries that it's being used in to be fair. That's not an English thing. The rule itself needs looking at, you shouldn't be offside if it's your armpit for example. It's the rules themselves that are the issues, the technology does what it is asked to do.

Nez refs are responsible for all decisions whether good or bad but they all end up being bad decisions in one team eyes . Take today everyone connected with rufc say bad decisions but everyone at ccfc say good but there not going to send death threats to ref because they got away with one.
