I believe the club did take the loan. Any business in their right mind would do so. This wasn't tax payer money, it was from the football "pot". Even if you sat it in your bank account and "earned" the interest on it, you'd take it.
Weren't there conditions attached to these loans?
I may be wrong but I seem to remember the primary purpose of them was for clubs to pay their dues to HMRC and Tony Stewart said we weren't in a situation where we needed to do that.

You could be tight regarding restrictions on the loan mellow and certainly the timing was aimed at the PAYE submissions to HMRC. But even if used solely for that purpose it frees up liquidity throughout the rest of the company. It's the interest free aspect which made it a no brainer. The majority of championship clubs took the loan in April. And I'm told RUFC was one of them.

    Are club paying the 20%?
Don’t see a problem myself, it’s not like the players won’t get paid

It would be good to get confirmation/clarification on the Daily Mail story. There must be something to it otherwise it would be libelous. Given that it is reported that many clubs have enquired, or indeed implemented furlough, why is RUFC doing it such a "story"? The tone of the story is extremely negative, almost as if there is something underhand or that the club is on the brink, etc.

As far as I'm concerned, the issue with SWFC enquiring about furloughing their players wasn't so much the furlough per se, it was the fact that they hadn't previously paid the players and so then asking the tax payer to help out seemed disingenuous. Totally different at RUFC.

Given the newspaper article, I don't think it would be too much to ask that RUFC issue a statement. If only to allay fans anxieties.

Yes MT and in an indirect way it makes their jobs and pay more secure because the club is receiving some assistance to smooth the cash flow
Some fans have concluded that the club is in dire straights financially and TS has been misleading us

That might be possible but highly unlikely. I, like you and a few others are concluding that it's just good planning by using all the opportunities open to the club

Regarding this our walking football group is under the community trust therefore they provide a ref for our training sessions and i asked the question .As hes paid by Rotherham united)ts). The answer was not a clue so unless it just the playing staff ,or maybe its complete *******s and if so would be looking for some kind of written apology from the express .Either way i think we would have heard something by now.

I would have thought through the club website an explanation what is happening would be best all round.

I would think it would be listed in the club financial accounts ( when published)
