I just don't understand why they keep using Jenas, I've not seen a single bit of positive feedback about his co-commentary
I can only think Micah Richards is there for his comedy value ... and what a fidget.

I'm not keen on Jenas but for some reason the Beeb do seem to like him. God knows how he managed to wangle a host spot on the One Show. However, his documentary on the Metropolitan Police and their stop and search policy was actually decent viewing.

He's very comfortable in front of the TV cameras and behind a microphone clearly but his actual content unless reading an autocue he's bang average at best.

I disagree. Caught him on the One Show a few times and he was awful. Wooden and stilted, with no bouncing off the other presenter. She seemed to feel really awkward with him, he's one of those TV interviewers who make you feel edgy because he isn't naturally good at interacting with guests. It feels forced rather than a natural conversation.

Question of sport presenter or team captain next along with Alex Scott, must be a shoe in surely?

I'll be watching on ITV tonight, assuming it's Matterface and McCoist,, to avoid Jenas mostly but I'm not a big fan of Guy Mowbray either or a lot of the BBC pundits. Steve Wilson is the best commentator around at the moment for me, can't understand why he's the BBC's no2. He should jump ship to Sky when Tyler retires.

It's probably gone un-noticed - because he clearly got the job on merit - that ITV have used a black commentator during this tournament, Seb Hutchinson (who also did our game against Sutton for BT sport). Most people also seem to like ITV's choice of female co-commentator. I'll be glad if/when the BBC lose the rights to Premier League highlights, their football coverage is rapidly going down the same hill as the rest of their output.

I've started turning the BBC match sound commentary off , and watching Peter Crouch, Maya Jama and Alex Horne later on . Better entertainment at two levels.

I don't watch it, really not my bag.

Sounds like he should stick to football he's very comfortable whether it be Football Focus, MOTD, BT or Sky Sports' goals shows. That's why he's so popular, the TV producers must think the same. Plus he's a good age profile, move some of the old guard out the studio.

Talking of annoyances Alan Shearer's inability to say a sentence without repeating part of it is incredibly annoying. If you haven't noticed it to this point and can only apologise

Not sure whether he does it because he thinks it adds gravitas to what he's saying or more likely he can't stop himself but annoying either way.

One commentator on the England game said ‘England getting an early feel of the ball” which conjured up images of them handing the ball to each other saying “Look it’s round, bouncy and leathery!”

... JJ is the perfect fit for our woke bbc - non white; appears reasonably intelligent; just achieved reasonable level of football competance to pass some semi-expert comment. Has been groomed for a wider audience on the Woke Show. Will probably take over from Lie-naker. Turn the lights out, someone ...
