It's been a very odd experience watching these qualifying games between England and Hungary.
I've no real affiliation with Hungary familywise, nothing beyond once having a holiday flat in Budapest for around 10 years and visiting Bp and Hungary many, many times from 2004 up until a couple of years ago.
It did feel a little bit like "home" for a while and I've enjoyed watching the slight resurgence in the Hungarian national team finally managing to qualify for a couple of euros although the World Cup still eludes them.
I was lucky enough to be at the play off 2nd leg against Norway when they qualified for euro 2016. An unforgettable night.
I also made sure I was in Budapest during most of the actual tournament and it was a wonderful experience.
I absolutely want England to qualify, but I was hoping it wouldn't be at the expense of being too damaging to Hungary's chances.
Sadly that hope had already gone, after some poor results.
I was quite hopeful after a fairly positive euros, and interestingly last night was a performance a bit closer to that, just a bit too late.
