Thread: Post split fixtures

I think the improvement is the defense was the most urgent thing that needed addressed though. It gives a platform to get results in tight matches, which is exactly what's happened. I think back to the last Motherwell match where we had 2 shots on target and won 2 nil for instance.

if we take a tanking from both of the ugly sisters our defensive record could well be very similar to last season. The defense was brilliant early in the season, we had the best defensive record in the league but since then we have been not been as good. We've got better again since the emergence of Ross Graham. I am really happy if we have Edwards, Mulgew and Graham in defence though. All can score goals too. This season we are a threat for set-pieces. If we could get someone that could deliver the ball in consistently well we would score alot more from set plays.

Would be a bit unfair to the judge the defence on another two games against the uglys though, when last season we were playing the leagues horse sh*te at the bottom after the split. The defence has much improved over the whole. Middle to front we are much the same, if not worse.

Interesting point re Mulgrew, Edwards and Graham being a goal threat and they definitely are......they are probably a bigger goal threat than McNulty, Clark and Watt 😂wonder what the trios accumulated goal tallies are🤔

I know Graham has scored & assisted more goals than McNulty. 🙈

Positions 3 to 7 all now in bottom 6 ! That’s Scottish football for you - no sustained success outside top 2.

Aberdeen and Hibs and their like sacking managers every 6 months for an illusion of success

Come on United let’s get 4th and build something decent

    It’s Rossco and Motherwell ffs

Why the fk are we playing 5 at the back every game, to me any team plays that way, hit on the break , we are sh1t anyway moving ball from back to front, i think Graham a cracking player, and Mulgrew and Edwards know how to defent , any 2 out 3 , i fk hate this 5 at the back.. we were 2 up last game and he stuck with 5 at the back i was going ape to get him take one out, you knew if they scored one we could be in big trouble.. Its not like other than jam and they other 2 win everything, what the fk are we scared of, rest teams in the league are struggling to score as well ..To me its a cop out ..

Depends how you see the formation. I don't see it as five at the back. It's three at the back. A solid back three of the players you mentioned who get help in defence from the two wing backs when necessary. Hearts play three at the back more often than not & it's certainly not a cop out for them. We've looked a more solid team with three at the back than when we've gone with four this season.

Your right depends on which way you look on it, i don't think lately our defending last few months was anywhere near as good as it was, but its all about opinions .

But for two brain farts by our goalie against the fun we'd have won that. 100% down to him and nothing to do with the formation IMHO.
