You’ve picked out some good ones there and certainly ones to keep an eye on. I’d like to think the Radar know all about them as well.

Danny Elliott first and foremost is a Nottingham born so will have roots here. Only 26 so still to reach his footballing peak so to speak. He’s also had an interesting career path starting out at Forest and Villa but spending time in the US. Also what stands out for me is he helped Hartlepool to promotion via the playoffs and was Boston United player of the year for the season just ended.

Alfie Rutherford what a signing he would be especially with us just signing a player who has scored over 30 goals last season in the league below. He’s only 23 and scored 32 goals in the league below. Maybe too much to ask for a Rutherford and Langstaff partnership up top, which would be very exciting and have a lot of potential.

Again with Josh Walker had the right footballing education at Tottenham and Fulham. Always been around the London area, but kind of fits the type of player we seem to go for.

It's a no to Miller from me. 34 league appearances for Chesterfield, 1 goal, no assists according to transfermarkt.com

I'm sure there must be better out there.

I think there is still a fair amount of ins and out this summer.
    - another GK, potentially on loan
    - another RWB
    - another LWB if Chicksen is seen as part of a back 3
    - a couple of CBs is Chicken is seen as a LWB
    - at least 1 in midfield. Can see Ruben moving back into midfield for a bit of bite in there with the new lad and Knight vying for lead role up front. We need someone on the last defender prepared to run direct when teams are pressing us
    - at least 1 more striker
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Mitchell, Francis, Roberts and Wootton all leave

I don't see Chicksen as the first choice option for LWB or the left CB in a back three, and yet I don't actually mean that as a criticism. I think he's essentially too small to be first choice centre-back, but he disguises his obvious physical disadvantage very well most of the time. I also don't think he's naturally gifted enough as an attacker to be first choice LWB, but if you need cover in that position he'll always give you everything he's got. In other words, he's the epitome of a very good and professional squad player.

Kyle Cameron is obviously the natural first-choice left centre-half in a back three, with Chicksen as the cover option.

The real question for me is whether Joel Taylor is good enough to occupy the first choice LWB/LB role, because that's his only position really. The player we saw in the first few months of last season looked a good one, but then form deserted him and IB clearly lost a lot of trust in him.

Good post Jackal. Yes, Chicksen may have gone from criminally underrated to a wee bit over-rated during his time at Notts. He's a good defensive player. He would be a first choice NL LB or LCB (if we didn't have someone better there, which we clearly do).
But LWB is basically saying to the opposition that you don't need to worry about that third of the pitch, nothing dangerous will be coming down there. It's a gift to the other team.

Wing-backs have cover behind them, there's always a 3 there and the block can slide over to cover. But ahead of them? Will someone fill in for them on the attacking left wing in a 3-5-2? No. It's just them. And if you have a defender there. Like we had with Chicksen in many key games this season (like Grimsby), you may as well allow the other team to wall off that side of the pitch and only worry about the rest. Someone asked recently, how many assists and goals came from that position this year. It was an extremely poor output to be sure. If we go 3-5-2 next season let's hope they don't make another pig's ear of it like they did this year. And that's starts with not considering Chicksen for that role.

I don't know what Connor Parsons' situation is at the moment, but I thought he filled the left wing back role very well in the limited chance he had. He certainly got up and down well and I seem to remember he had an end product too.

I’ve just discovered that Macauley Langstaff is only 5 ft 10 in tall. That’s only 2 inches taller than Cal Roberts.
So the other new forward we need will have to be of a decent size.
We don’t want to add to the problems of that small midfield and a struggling defence on those set pieces.

If Wotton goes (Stockport Alledgedly) then we need at least one experienced proven striker for this level in.

Alfie Rutherford has aortic stenosis and was advised to give up the game but declined. Very good payer he maybe but given our history of signing players without proper medicals or with known comprimised health, I think the risk is too high - good luck to the guy anyway !!

As Langstaff is reported to be rapid, I naturally assumed he wasn't 6 foot or taller. As many have pointed out we need more height in the side
