The reason Ardley was "sacked" was because Burchnall was identified to replace him in the summer anyway was getting interest from league 1 clubs so we moved to get him early. In an ideal world, I think the board would have like Ardley to see out his contract but wouldn't have renewed as they wanted their own man in but respected Ardley's contract and the fact he stood by the club when it was at its lowest ebb.

The send off we gave Ardley I think was telling that although it must have hurt him, the board still held and holds him in high regard
