Just to be clear, I'm a big John Bostock fan too. If I had his ability, I'd probably want to strut about a bit too and show off my skills, but when he plays in that deep position he does spend too long on the ball and slows play down, regardless of the opponent. The same was true of Stanley Aborah some years ago.

I think the onus is on the manager to move JB further forward into a position where he isn't given time to prance, but has to play more quickly and instinctively. His best games have generally been when he's been one of the front two of a midfield triangle. Matt Palmer is the player best suited to play the deep role, because he doesn't waste time and doesn't overplay.

I disagree about Palmer playing deep. IMO he is our best midfielder in terms of consistency. What he also showed yesterday is that he is unbelievably fit and got about the pitch, making forward runs, making us tick.
I actually thought Bostock did OK yesterday.
I can’t see Chesterfield going man to man all over the pitch against us. I feel it will be a toe to toe game.

It's an interesting debate but for me JB deep, Palmer more advanced. I hear what Jackal is saying and agree (I'm part) but I want the more nimble man around their box, and i want the more physical big unit near ours.

    Palmer's energy was superb yesterday

BW set up to stop all obvious avenues and we're basically saying go on ball playing centre half you can come through the middle.

It was a fair and sensible tactic yet he scored by allowing this and nearly scored by the same method. I was demanding he kept driving through the huge hole they were leaving

I thought at the game yesterday that Ruben missed good chances but after watching the highlights today he is by far our most creative player and to suggest he’s had his turned is rubbish.
Admittedly things didn’t happen for him yesterday but it wasn’t for lack of effort he gave his absolute all and even when he went off,the big thing I saw at ht in et was Ruben who went round to every player encouraging them trying to squeeze an extra bit out of them.
Ruben has been in our top 3 players all season yesterday he was man marked by for me their best player in Bush and still managed to create space and chances.
If we win on Saturday I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t sign a new contract he loves the club and shows in his performance and attitude
So I’m certainly not going to throw him under the bus and whilst his standard was a little below(missed chances) his usual 8/9 out of 10 I think some people are looking far too much into it ..and he certainly can play in big games as he’s shown throughout the season

Ruben was 5/10 yesterday, but for me if he's fit he definitely starts at Wembley.

I like Ruben but don't think I would say he has a usual 8/9, rather 7/8.

I like Bostock and wouldn't blame him for the first goal, the second one I am sure he would agree he was too casual.

I don't really think that it was a game to give individual ratings - everyone played to a plan, not all of it came off, but collectively they got the job done.

Watched the Northampton game today - if that is the standard of automatic promotion from L2 then I don't think we would have anything to fear if we went up. Not saying we would win it (I wouldn't be surprised if Wrexham do) just that we would be more than comfortable.
