Long Haul Mick has said the same. He says his move was not money related. Matthew Edmond's ( JAQ's husband) New York Hedge Fund and the recent Investor Group should tell their shareholders they are not in the business of making money. Parekh must have been the only member of the original Consortium not here to make money.

Barnsley FC has become a Buddhist Centre where the desire of the leaders to spread joy through Official Statements and do good to others comes way ahead of thoughts of money and material goods. This may be what the big and exciting news is about.. Khaled El Ahmad is to be the 15th Dalai Lama.

Are you still unable to differentiate between supporters/directors and the role and commitment of simple employees???

Patrick Cryne used to say something on the lines of this ……. If you are a rich man and want to become poor, buy a football club.

Do you know of any owners of football clubs that have made a killing?
And if you know one - for every one you name I’ll name a dozen clubs where owners have lost money.

I believe there was a Group consisting mainly of gentlemen called Conway and Lee who made a £40 million killing ( some say £60 million) out of player trading and the sale of OGC Nice.
Conway, in his own words, pitched to the New York finance market that there were soccer clubs in Europe which were undervalued and where profit could be made through player trading and the sale of assets. Matthew Edmond's (JAQ's husband) Hedge Fund was one of a group of firms that wanted some of that profit and formed the Investor Group.

Yep - took a few years but they were eventually rumbled - chiefly by their own CEO who let the cat out of the bag and who now says in hindsight it was a good thing we got relegated - presumably because it got rid of the Chien Gang.

I hope the current leadership make a bit of money but they will have to put some money in beforehand.
If they do make a bit of a profit then they must be the only club directors in Yorkshire that do.

With regards to the next head coach - has time moved on now to dispel any suggestion it will be Devaney ?
Surely if it was him then he would have been named by now.

Ahmad said we had plans in place and ready for all eventualities so surely appointing a new Head Coach has already been sorted. No way will we be fannying abart for ages.

Too late for OGC Nice. Lee and Conway rode off into the sunset with £40 million minimum in their back pockets laughing all the way to the bank. OGC Nice were "transformed" from being a Champions League club to one now languishing in mid table.

Barnsley haven't "got rid of" Lee, Conway and Hung. They own shares worth 37.65% of Barnsley FC.

According to the accountant on bbs Archerfield who also has access to the club's accounts in Hong Kong .

We are looking at a £5m shortfall this coming season , that looks to me like operational costs .

The £6m rights issue last season merely got the club through the season , paid its way so to speak .

Clearly the club needs at least £5m coming in through transfer fees this summer , could be achievable if indeed Mads , Styles and possibly Connell are sold on .

I'd be amazed if the club bought a player for money this summer , looking like last summer with players coming in who ran their contracts down and loans .

The club is now in feeling the full force of losing its championship status and not returning at the first time of asking .

This is now the new reality on Grove Street , players once sold on to create a transfer budget is no more , players sold on today merely keeps the club running .

The model operated by the club can now be seen for what it really is , a total failure .

I say the failure of the club's model but I think I'm more inclined to go with the idiots tasked with operating the model and the complete lack of investment required to give the model a modicum of a chance .

If this coming season goes as I expect it to go and is a very average campaign then I believe the ownership may start to feel some heat from disgruntled fans .

Struggling and relegated from the championship is one thing but struggling in league one is quite another and totally unacceptable .

I appreciate your views Animal - I’m sure we all do.
One thing Khaled said was that they had planned for all eventualities - meaning, whoever leaves and whatever league we are in.

It’s obviously the objective to get into the Championship.
But once in the Championship the players will probably cost more to bring in and wages will be higher.
So if you say we can’t compete in the 1st Division - then what chances have we in the Championship?
The club must have plans to solve this.
